🛑 Problem with adding images to posts

You may find that you are unable to add photos or other images to your posts at the moment. HealthUnlocked are aware of this problem and are working on it.

I managed to work around this issue in my newest post by resizing the image before uploading it. I went from a typical 1080p image (1920x1080) down to a small 750x422 image. The file size also substantially went down. I'm not sure which one of them did the trick, but it worked anyway! 😅

Honestly, that may have been a coincidence because this looks like an intermittent problem xx

It's probably a back-end problem with something like imagemagick or graphicsmagick, and temporary storage. If the photo size (in bytes) is small enough, it doesn't get processed and is accepted.

Normally I resize pictures to the 702×630 that the site resizes all photos attached to postings to. A simpler photo which became a sub-200kB JPG file was accepted. A more complex one which ended up about 400kB was rejected.

Often I upload in PNG format to lose least quality when the site requantizes the image.
