A touch of sadism or masochism?

This is the elevation of the revised Parkrun at Lanhydrock, Bodmin. 100 metres over the final third. Nearly everyone mutters about “that hill” at the end. At least that’s the polite version.

Any chance you can run it backwards? 🤔

Logically, since the start and finish lines are the same it should make no difference. However, the climb would be in bite sized chunks.

I agree with countrycabbage! Plead ignorance and do it back to front 😆.

Or find a different parkrun course? 😂Thats definitely one for the masochists amongst us.....

One local to me is very coy about its elevation profile. A guy who ran it last weekend described it as being more like a hard fell run. That said, there are still folks who complete it in under 20 minutes.

On the other hand, a couple in South Manchester are almost as flat as a pond.

It strikes me as daft not to mention the elevation when they give such a detailed route description. Me being me, I googled and found this: strava.com/clubs/116553/gro...

If I were forced to run a parkrun, I'd much rather one like Watergrove than a flat, multiple laps one with loads of people, as the latter type would terrify me.

You're used to climbs now, though. Most of us aren't.

True. That's exactly why they should give the elevation though - a weirdo like me will be happy climbing on trails, especially if it's not too busy, many people won't.

Which sadist put that course together?

It's a lovely place, though. We visited almost three years ago.

I think I'd rather run on the Camel Trail - though maybe hard to make a circuit out of it!

I did my slow solo HF there a couple of years ago as it’s so flat, but it had to be a there-and-back run!

HM I meant!

Cool - I thought a HF HM! 😎

I stayed that year (2018) in a place (a chapel conversion) that was just off the Camel Trail. If I had been doing running back then, I'd have definitely run parts of it.

I spent time there too - also not as a runner, unfortunately. Loved to walk the trail to Wadebridge and back, or drive to Wadebridge, and walk to Padstow and back. 😍

The distance between Wadebridge and Padstow is 5 miles, so that was the route of my first 10 miler. A very scenic run.

Wow that's uphill for the whole mile 😲 I recently 'measured' the accent on my hilly route as nrc app doesn't measure it automatically on my phone and it was 57m but over ups and downs. I can't imagine running your park run at all 😄

I’m not going to let it beat me! Back to more hill running tomorrow. 🥵
