Another week in and here I am again... Hoping you are too!
Well! How it is going?
I am holding on to my main target of getting out there at least one day a week ! I am also keeping up with strength work and stamina work, incorporating a work-out of cleaning, nearly all of my windows, inside, before 8 o'clock one morning this week. ( including two huge bay windows
I had a lovely short jogette up to a nearby cash machine the other morning too. I called it the Bullion Run, but the real treasure were the flowers on every verge of the green spaces on the Aerodrome housing estate I have taken so many photgraphs of the wonderful colours and the variety of planting. A feast for the eyes.
I am still listening very hard to my body and I do exactly waht it tells me too. My pace is still, as ever slow and steady, and I was so heartened to read the excellent post put up a few days ago by IannodaTruffe , on the speed that we move at. For me, it is all about the direction I am moving in, ( metaphorically speaking ) and not the speed, and of course, enjoyment.
Here I go again, chattering on !
So... How is everyone doing? It seems that many of you are well on target, but listening to your body also, and adapting to different circumstances
As I state nearly every week, sometimes we start really strongly, but wind, weather and life in general can affect our progress; the thing is, for us all to stay positive, maintain what we are able to and enjoy !
Please, please post and let us all know how your week has gone... I do know that one or two of us are already feeling the benefits, ( and the aches and pains sometimes of this first week! It is great to see folks' progress and to support each other
And...
If you are not already here with us then, time to join in.
What is the Quest?
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.
I ask that you are a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:
★ To run three times a week
★ To slowly increase distance
★ To train for a specific race
★ To add Stretch and Strength exercises to your weekly routine
This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is comment below with something like:
I would like to join the Quest, or, count me in! I would like to...
Each week, I will put up a new post, so we can chat and see how we are all doing!
So, any new questers, just leave a reply, if you have want to join in.
Happy Safe Questing for this next week, everyone

Thank you my friend... you will be out there and on track as and when and having done so, so well last week ! Well... a short time off will be as good as a rest! Enjoy, and take care of you both x
As predicted, no running. I did get one yoga session in at the hotel but wasn't well enough the next morning to risk it. It's been a glorious week of activity otherwise though (assuming you can include laying to rest, on a beautiful day in a beautiful tree filled cemetery, the remains of one who died far, far too young from cardiovascular causes) The coming week is more promising for carving out goal directed time.
You did a bit, better than nothing... and the emotional stress of such a sad, sad occasion, to me , warrants a time to rest and reflect before heading onwards again. When you feel ready, you will be on track again. xxx
Good morning Oldfloss. Just been reading this and I felt I would like to join you. I have my first 10k race on the first Sunday in September, so this is perfect. I have run 10k before, but never in an actual race! I like the idea of encouraging each other, so well done everyone and keep it up.
Hello my lovely, what a beautiful photograph. Our city gardeners have planted some of the flower beds with meadow flowers this year and they took my breath away when I first came across them.
It sounds like you have been very busy at home and there must be something in the air as I have also been cleaning our windows and frames day by day
My Nike running plan is still going well, but I am replacing a speed run with real parkrun and not running more than 4 days a week. Loved parkrun yesterday and each week I regain a better time. It’s not all about speed though, I have also been doing slow recovery runs and my long run was a nice slow 10k. An excellent piece of advice by IannodaTruffe .
I have also been ticking boxes on my bingo card.
Run to a local landmark ✅
Take a postbox selfie ✅
Take a wildlife selfie ✅
Wear blue on a run ✅
Say hello to other runners ✅
Pick up a piece of litter ✅
A meadow in the city

Lovely and such happy running There seems to be a real spread of the type of running too !What is this Bingo card, that keeps being mentioned? Am I missing something good?
Your runs sound interesting and that photograph is beautiful!
You can see the bingo card in my post last week but if it doesn’t show , this is a link. runr ( a local running clothing company) have created it to add interest to summer running. You can download it for free, and I am also running 25 miles for mind charity.
A very much more flexible approach this month for me.
I had pretty much a week off between Tue 3th and Sun 8th due to illness: a fever from infection that drained me of energy.
This week just gone had me doing four weekday morning runs (Mon-Thu) and a parkrun yesterday. Once my late breakfast has had time to settle and it's dried up a little, I'm planning on a 10km plod today then rest tomorrow. If the rains don't abate today, I'll do the 10km before work tomorrow morning.
Looking ahead, I'll probably continue with a routine of two short runs on weekdays, a harder run on another weekday, parkrun on a Saturday and a lengthening run on the Sunday.
I'm hoping to get back to 10 miles again in a few weeks, with half an eye on doing a HM in September. This is all dependent on circumstances, wellness and avoiding injury.
Looking much further ahead, I'm still entered in the 10km race that was postponed from July to the end of October. And yet further than that, I might participate in RED January next year.
This is sounding very good! I am glad you are fully recovered from your infection too! Those targets seem to be being realised and lots to look forward to as well! Terrific stuff!
The flower photo is beautiful! Thank you for that and for your encouraging words. Your words mean a lot to me since not running for the last year and a half and finally venturing out, albeit in my own environs for the most part. I've kept up my end of the bargain this week, having run three times. Today is rest from all but what's necessary to live and eat! On alternate days I'm continuing my little bit of muscle exercises with an occasional nod to a yoga position or two just to stretch some unstretched muscles for a bit of a change! I find I am really exhausted the rest of the day after running, but I'm keeping at it....
This is such good news and I am delighted that you are keeping very much to plan! I also get an extra one in when I am able, but an careful not to push too hard:)It is fine too, that you are in your own location and that you feel safe. This is all about enjoyment. Any extra exercise however intense or not, is valuable and you are doing wonderfully!
Only one questing run this week, not a great success as reported at some length in a separate thread yesterday. I tried to run 1.5k of my parkrun in 6'54", and missed by 12 seconds, probably down to total failure to follow my cunning plan. I've allowed myself a yellow blob on the chart for a nearish miss ........
And I did manage to force myself into the gym for some weights work for the first time in over a month.
Next week I think I need to go 15k, so I'll be watching the weather with interest!
Hi there.. well, sometimes things don't play out the way we would wish, but you seem to be getting to where you want to be. Your post on the park run exhausted me, just thinking about the logistics of it!You had a good run though and the timing you are going for is really impressive!
Weight training too... all good. ( My weight training currently is picking up small runner in training, who is not so small now, when she decides she wants a huge cuddle! )
15K is the next target then? So I will watch for the post... and the weather !
Good morning Oldfloss, this week I have mostly been recovering from Parkrun. I somehow strained a ligament and the doctor said to rest until it's better. I'm hobbling around like an old lady and it's driving me bonkers. Had a couple of days away in the campervan, so very difficult not to walk, 12000- 14000 steps on those days at a snail's pace. Over the weekend I've embraced the sofa and resigned myself to not moving. Couch to 5k and back again!
Morning all. I think it’s fair to say last week was a challenging one at work, on call week is never easy but I seemed to spend too much time trying to sort out rosters to cover sickness, also my manager was on leave so I was in effect doing 2 jobs (pity they don’t pay me twice!).
I’m on leave this week and am now by the seaside in Northumberland, having had a couple of days in Scarborough (without much of a mobile signal!). My quest is to run 100k again this month, and if possible to equal the 110k I managed in July. I’ve been out twice so far while away, my run in Scarborough was a bit, shall we say, hilly! I really need to do more hill work, I do find it a bit more difficult being primarily used to running “on the flat”, so that’s one thing to work on for the future.
This morning I went out along the Northumberland coast, flat but challenging for a different reason- running into a stiff headwind is as bad as running up hills! I completed 2x 5k runs though, bringing my distance for the month so far up to 55k. I’m considering trying a run along the beach one morning, just so I can say I’ve done it…!
Hope everyone else’s quests are going well, keep going everyone!
Well done you! I am always in awe of the incredible runs achieved, when folk have so much pressure at work! You are doing so well! Enjoy the holiday, do what you are able and enjoying too!
Take care on the beach..it is fun, but us, whether wet or dry a strain on our calculations muscles. But still great fun..I did a little one today, shhhh!
Lovely photo. Taking photos of flowers and insects when out on a run is one of the things I love. Well I did get my 2 runs in last week, the first one got me back to 7k, my longest run since my layup on the IC. The second incorporated fartleks between lamp posts and then trees. I also managed a yoga session and a 40 minutes of core exercises.
So I'm pleased with my progress so far ☺️🤞

This sounds terrific...back to 7...and some varied running too! All your extra strength and stamina and yoga work too, so helpful .I love taking photos as I run, too..and my little butterfly bush outside my van here in Wales, had its first visitors this afternoon!
The first two weeks of August were spent on holiday, but I did take my trainers and managed 5 runs totalling 32Km - less than I would have liked, I don't think I will make 100Km again this month, so my quest will be to actually start skipping (I meant to do this last month!) and hit at least 75Km for August.
Love the flower picture...there is something so delicate and yet so strong about wild flowers, they survive and show up on the poorest quality soil against the odds with vibrant colours. So cheerful.
Back from this afternoon's run, so that is three done this month now. Once a week is not ideal, but is all I can manage at the moment.
Still doing daily PE with Joe Wicks, I find it easier to do these than run. Mr BBr is doing them with me and so it's become routine.
Same with daily YWA, I look forward to my mat time, and this is never a chore...
My run next week may be in Bushy Park, or otherwise down by the river in Guildford, hoping the change of scenery will give me more incentive...
Hi Oldfloss and fellow questers 👋👋I have just achieved my quest of running 8 miles by the end of August 🙌🙌😁😁
I actually did 8 and a bit as I continued on to 13k. That ‘bit’ is very important! 😂😂
I got absolutely soaked and then was rewarded with a beautiful rainbow 🌈. It was a bit hot in the middle, then I got soaked again from 12k which was very welcome 🌧 🥵. I listened to Coach Bennett from NRC and the ‘Pacesetter’ playlist from BBC Sounds which was a good combo. Coach Bennett asked me to run at my 9/10 effort at 9 1/2k 😲. I had to tell him there was no chance and I carried on shuffling on 😂. I was happy with the pace though. Time:1:45 Ave Pace: 8’11. I usually run more slowly as I run with a slower friend but without her today (she’s on holiday) I set off a bit quickly but generally maintained a comfortable pace. It sounds selfish but I’ve been waiting for her to go on holiday so I could just push on to 8 miles, as she felt she wasn’t quite ready after running 7 miles last week. I’ll be happy to drop back to her pace and distance when she gets back because my quest is done ✅ 😁
