I started C25K August 2019 and worked up to running 10K three times a week. Then we went into lockdown, I began running 5K each day, my legs weren't ready (not for 27:30 every day) and I got injured.
After multiple failed attempts at running I prepared for another go with 2 months of long daily fast hikes. Getting a new pair of earbuds for my birthday was the spark I needed and I began C25K again in June.
What has been spooky compared to the C25K I did two years ago is that this time I have had absolutely zero aches and pains or soreness and stiffness. In Week 7 I switched to running every other day instead of three times a week and also began doing warm down stretches.
Today I was a bit naughty. It was supposed to be Week 9 Run 1, but I managed to slow right down from my usual 6:30 / km to around 7:00 / km. It felt barely faster than walking and at 30 minutes I just kept shuffling on until my watch buzzed me at 5 km. My slowest ever 5K!
Very pleased. Feeling good - cannot tell I've been out for a run. Now for lots of slow consolidation runs, continuing to work on my gait. Not going to attempt anything faster until I have lost at least a stone in weight!
