Although the weather was pretty bad today I thought I'd better nip out for a quick run in between showers since I haven't run this week. Off I trotted along the cycle path as the clouds built up in front of me.
It started raining gently but I don't mind a bit of rain when it isn't cold. Then hubbie rang to check I was OK since it was coming down in torrents up the hill where we stay. Nope - just a drizzle here, I said.
Five minutes later and the thunder crashed! It seemed like it was just overhead and since I was under trees at the time I couldn't see if there was lightning. I decided enough was enough and turned back.
Thunder crashing, heavy rain and then lightning. It nearly scared the crap out of me!!!! I tell you what though - it was the fastest run I've had all year with perfect negative splits. π€£π€£π€£π€£
UPDATE: Just checked VO2 Max and I'm now 4 years younger than yesterday - 23yrs off my actual age! So maybe lightning is the business after all? π€£πβ‘

Hey Fionamags, this made me laugh π π€£ and reminds me of a run I had under similar circumstances last year! I beat a hasty retreat too! Sounds like you had fun though. Weβll be nick-naming you Usain Bolt β‘οΈ now π
Very good - I like that. π€£π€£π€£ Didn't you do a rainy run just recently? I was thinking of you when I set off and thought I shd follow your example. So its all your fault π€£π€£
Ha ha ha yes perhaps although maybe crashing pots and pans as a simulation would do the trick? I could maybe get trained into an automatic response - crash followed by taking to the heels???
I do love a run in the rain but not sure about thunder and lightening, I think I would have done the same and cut it short. Well done for getting some speed training in though πβ‘
