Best Trail Shoes

I currently wear Brooks GTS21 and find they suit me. I will be doing more off road now, having joined a running club, and wondered if there are others in this forum that wear the GTS21s and have found a trail shoe that works well for them in a similar way?

My previous pair were Brooks Cascadia and I loved ‘em. I wore them down running on roads too but I got over 400km out of them.I had an admail through yesterday about their new Cascadia 16 and I’ve got my sights set on those for September, pending favourable reviews. So I’ll have a pair for roads (Brooks Launch) and a pair for off roads.

Thanks. I’ve been looking at those. Some great reviews and then a few that suggested they wore away quickly but I guess if they’re designed to be off road, being on road will wear them more. Mind you, I’d also be wearing my Brooks GTS 21 for road running so between them I’d probably get a year’s wear.

Just ordered the Cascadia 16s. I’ll let you know how I’m find them.

Hi Chesterlove , I only have trail shoes, Brooks Cascadia 15. Need to replace them as I've run over 900km, including on roads, since buying them in January and it shows! Keen to try the Cascadia 16 as apparently they're slightly different, so planning to head off to running shop in a couple of weeks.

Let us know how you find them! I might be getting those too. 😁

Will do! Though if the running shop advises something else I'll take their advice. Current pair were brilliant, despite being very worn, during the extremely silly trail event I did three weeks ago. However I do end up running on roads, especially when I get lost or just need to do longer distances, so I might get a hybrid pair instead or as well.

I bought Cascadias when I ran local bridlepaths mostly. Then we moved house recently and it was mostly roads. I was shocked when I looked at the soles and a lot of the knobbly bits were gone! Totally worn flat.I bought road shoes next but now the parkruns, which I hope to do regularly, advise trail shoes - and I do like running in the woods here too. Nothing for it, I’m afraid - it has to be two pairs of shoes! 😆

Ah, the quest for the magic shoe!🪄✨👟✨!

For trails I use Hoka Speedgoats but when it’s dry I will take my Hoka Arahis anywhere!!

Great that the Brooks GTS21’s work for you!🙂

Brooks Cascadia for me too. I got last years model in the sale though and paid half price. I feel very sure footed in them when trail running but they are not waterproof. They are very soft on the road too.

Thanks. They seem popular. Must be good.
