I really struggle running in hot weather (or even warm weather) as I get so hot and sweaty. So I have been pleased to just get out and run for 30 mins plus 3 times a week. But, the temperature for the last couple of runs has been slightly cooler and it has really helped keep my heart rate lower, even though I seem to have been running at a slightly faster pace (7.35/km) than my usual 7.50km or slower. I hadn't realised just how much harder it is on your body in the heat.
I now plan to run one longer run each week if the temperatures look low enough and will gradually increase my running time by 10% a week, or maybe try a mix of walking and running. Fingers crossed we don't have another heatwave. Apologies to those who like the heat!

I agree so much Knitruntalk. I used to be a real sun and heat bunny but as I get older I find it much more uncomfortable. I find myself heading for the shade and that’s just not like me! I’m getting up earlier and earlier to get my run done before it gets too warm . I’m happy with the current temperature but like you could manage quite happily without another heatwave! Happy cool running!
I do agree with you and Oldgirlruns that as you get older you don't like the heat and sun as much as you did when you were younger, nowadays when the sun is shining I am always in the shade and do my running in the early morning, usually before 8 o'clock.
My comfortable temperature for running is between +8C/46F and 18C/64F although I have ran in a temperature of minus 6C/21F at a parkrun, the highest temperature I have ran in is 20C/68F but that was at the very end of a 5K near to where I live, the temperature later that day went to 30C/86F by which time I was in my garden in the shade, this Wednesday morning I ran a 8K in a time of 56.14, I like to run a 8K sub one hour.
Great effort keeping going for these 30 minutes runs. I stop entirely when it’s hot. You’re right, slow down as much as you like in the heat and the HR is still high, drop the temp a few degrees - sorted. Happy running 🤗
