Just wanted to rave about social running groups

Hi all,

So C25K has really became an annual event for me the past couple of years. I’ve completed the program then never progressed any further. Stopping running after a couple weeks for various reasons.

Well this year I decided I really wanted to “get into” running and joined my local JogScotland running group. It’s a group for mixed abilities but I’m certainly the least accomplished runner there. Well it has been fantastic, everyone has been really welcoming and encouraging. I’ve been attending for 6 weeks now and it’s really helping me to keep running. I’m finally progressing; getting fitter and quicker and completed my first 10k this week.

I just wanted to say if anyone can relate or isn’t sure what to do after completing the programme try joining a running group near you. I’ve got so much from it and really can’t recommend it enough.

Great to hear that your local group is helping you become a regular runner.

As an alternative for those who don't have access to a local running group, ParkRun is a good option.

Yes I couldn’t agree more. Hopefully Parkrun returns to Scotland as planned 14th Aug. I like that no one comes last at Parkrun - that’s the tail walkers job and how there can be such a mix of people. Some doing a sub 20 to inspire you and others walking the course to show how really inclusive Parkrun is.
