W4R3 - halfway to 10km!

I was quite nervous about this run but it ended up being my favourite for ages! I seem to have cracked slowing down a bit at the start (or my body has adapted to the pace I run at, at least!) and the cooler temperatures really helped, it felt easier than any run I’ve done for a few weeks. I also managed to knock 5 seconds off my 5km PB from Weds as Strava tells me I did one in 35:11.

Overall I did 8km exactly in 58:12 at a pace of 7:16/km, very pleased!

Fantastic effort and a great average pace. The cooler weather certainly makes each run far more enjoyable. Have fun on these new longer runs. Happy running 🤗

Thank you! I hadn’t realised quite how much harder the heat was making it until today, definitely feeling the benefit of persevering through those hot runs!

It will make the longer runs feel so much easier, I found a massive difference in HR between my last run in the heat and today’s in the cool

I was doing that sort of pace and distance over the Christmas/New Year period. You're doing extremely well.

Well done I’m at the same stage as you and didn’t think I’d make the 8k but like you I’m managing to keep the speed down and even continued to 8.5 as I suddenly felt I could!

Hi,

I have just read your post. Congratulations for your W4R4 10K.

Are you following a programme ?

Is it similar to C25K programme ?

I look forward to your reply . 🐾

Yes, I’m doing JuJu’s Magic plan, which is a 5-10km plan. No podcasts etc but it’s 3 runs a week for 8 weeks and you can choose to do the time-based plan (to get you to 60 mins running) or distance based, to get you to 10km. If you can already run 5km without too much trouble (no matter how long it takes you), I’d go for distance. If you search on here you’ll find the link to the training plan - good luck!

👏 well done! I'm at the same stage too! It feels like a milestone and a half to get to 8km coming from running 30 mins a short while ago 🙂

It really does - well done to you too! It took me 58 mins to do the 8km so next week for the repeat distance I’m just going to carry on and run for an hour as that feels like a big milestone!

Yeah you're so close to the 60 mins! I'm running at a slower pace so 8km took me 3 mins over 60. I claimed the badge already 😂

As you should, amazing achievement! I’m a bit too speed-focused so I was v determined to do 8km in under an hour but now I know I can I’ll def run for 60 mins this week and get the first badge!
