Although it’s still pretty hot, the slight breeze and 10 degree drop in temperature from Wednesday made today’s run a much more appealing prospect. For the first time ever my splits were all over the place - I worried I’d started off too fast to sustain the pace for an extra km so I slowed down, then I realised a 5km PB was in sight so I sped up, then slowed down again so as not to get tired and then ran fairly fast on the final km!
I’m still not doing too well with slowing down but I am getting pretty consistent with my pace, I do a lot of identical consecutive splits and my 5kms are within seconds of each other now - I also ran this 7km at the same pace as my 6km last week. So perhaps I need to stop fighting my body’s natural pace.
Today I ran 7km exactly in 51:56 at a pace of 7:25/km.

I haven’t run now for three weeks due to the heat, I’ll wait a few days more as I need to do a few exercises before I run again, and it’ll be a ‘how far can I run today type jog’. I expect my splits will be all over the place but I run according to my heart rate, so I’ll see how I get on. Happy 🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️
Thanks Dave! Good idea to avoid the heat, it’s been hard work this week. I’m so impressed by everyone measuring their zones and VO2 max, I don’t have that technical a watch but I am tempted!
