Consolidation run 1 complete!

Went out for my first post graduation run this morning, Honey came with me today, and I really feel like I’m starting to enjoy it. I had no anxiety, just ran for 30 minutes, I’m following JuJu’s magic plan from next week- but for this first week I’m just going to concentrate on consolidation.

How lovely RWH! Enjoy your consolidation runs, they’re so important and help build strong running legs. 😀 💪

I also run with my dog the majority of the time. We both love it. 🐕🏃‍♀️🥰

Nice! 👏👏👏 Enjoy your consolidation period! Looks like a fab route.

And if you want to do a bit more cross training to help with the 10k journey, maybe have a look at our sister forum Strength and Flex. (In fact, we are doing daily short Yoga sessions that perfectly complement running, see healthunlocked.com/strength... )

Well done and run!

That's fantastic, enjoy your consolidation runs with beautiful Honey 🐶 I hope you enjoy your magic plan journey 💪👍😃

Well done. Enjoy your consolidation runs - just relax into them for a couple of weeks and know your legs are building strength and stamina.

I also run with my dog Isla, with varying degrees of success. She’s a four year old cockapoo on her own agenda most of the time, so our runs (on the lead) can involve involuntary hurdling on my part as she changes direction without warning!

Happy running both of you 😃🏃‍♀️🐾

Thank you, that is good advice. I was going to start the magic plan this week but actually I think I will start next week to give myself a few extra consolidation runs first. Haha awh, that’s so relatable! Honey definitely has he own agenda too and when leaded I’m forever falling over her as she stops to sniff everything. The worst thing is she is basically doing a speed walk whilst I’m panting and running my fastest behind her!

😊👍🏼Spending a few weeks on consolidation is wise. New running legs are so prone to injury if you do too much too soon. Taking your time is worth it if you plan to be doing this running malarkey thing in the long haul. Your legs will thank you for a gradual approach.

I took my time but still ended up with shin splints during consolidation and had to stop running completely for a few weeks, before building up gently again.

Good luck. I’m sure you’ll find it fun having Honey for company. If I let Isla off she disappears into the undergrowth to follow her own nose and I have to keep waiting for her! It kind of interrupts the momentum! 😊🐾🏃‍♀️
