Running after low back problem

About ten days ago I leaned forward to put something in the bin and felt my back twinge. I was hobbling about for a few days with it feeling like it was going to go into spasm (it didn't thankfully). I took ibuprofen, iced it, did gentle stretches etc., - it was really improving until I did a fairly strong yoga session a couple of days ago and it feels a little stiff again but not too bad.

Just wondering when to go back to running? I usually do around a 5k and a 3k a week, but this varies, and for various reasons have been doing slightly less. Would it be worth stretching and warming up well then having a short test run?

Don’t stretch beforehand but warm up well and maybe try a walk/run to begin with and see how it feels.

It’s so easy to injure your back though. I once slipped a disc after lifting a garden pot and was in agony for ages afterwards. Just the wrong move and that’s it 😫

Thanks - I'll give it a go. Yes both times I've hurt my back it's been the most stupidly small movement- even more annoying!!!

Sorry to hear you’ve hurt your back. In the past I’ve looked up “yoga for backs with Adrien “ she has great YouTube videos that target the painful area. I hope you can ease the discomfort quickly. Happy running 🤗

Yes I’ve done that video and found it quite helpful. It’s improving so I’m going for a short test run tomorrow to see how it goes
