Ok!!! I am holding myself to account in order to keeping on running three times per week. This, after I experienced a recent bout of grumpiness signalling the start of a running slump, see my post at healthunlocked.com/bridgeto... .
So to counter this slippery slope (there were two weeks where I think I only ran once per week! π±π±π±) , I set myself a few challenges, some of which I just have signed up for:
1) I am still running RunLEJOG4, and will be for quite a while. I have emailed the team at LEJOG, as I will not make it to the end by the time this challenge runs out. The team at End2End have suggested that once I get to the end of the year (my LEJOG4 ends on 16th August 2021), I can let them know and I will be put on a later cohort map, giving me more time to finish! So on I go, and it will mean thereβll be a medal at the end! πππ½π
2) I have just yesterday also signed up for Conquerorβs North Coast 500 Challenge! This is a route I actually had planned to cycle more than 20 years ago, but I never got around to doing it, so now Iβll be running it virtually and looking really forward to it! π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ Who knows, maybe my LEJOG self will meet up with my North Coast self and run together part of the journey?
3) And: Sunday 19th September is me joining many other runners attempting an International 10k World Record, of most runners running a 10k on one day! This is being organised by the people behind VirtualRunners! Itβs free, unless you want bling! π
4) And similarly this popped up recently: Saturday 4th Sept International World Record of most runners completing a 5k in one day! This is being organised by the people behind End2End! Also free, also unless you go for bling. π
And I have my own training plan that involves:
- running through all of the Nike RCβs audio coached runs by Cory. (Isnβt he nice? Heβs nice, right? So nice! π€©βΊοΈππ)
- Continue to explore my new undulating rural summer route and extend it to 10k, basically running from my town to a very nice village with a famous ancient pub! This will be training for 10k 2nd time around but this hilly, uneven route is more challenging.
So thatβs me. I am posting it here to keep me on track. I miss the feeling of really needing that morning run, that feeling of just needing to jump out of bed on waking, going out for a run being the best thing one could possibly do!
I know by now I get that continuous runner-high feeling if I keep up my three runs per week, even if short runs. And whenever I drop to two runs or even worse, one run, that continued runnerβs high leaves me.
So Iβm getting it back! And this commitment will be my way to do it!
Happy running everyone!
