But there are new temptations from the wonderful world of long-distance virtual racing. I have found a new distance challenge with a manly, soldierly chest (Conquerorβs 145km Hadrianβs Wall), not quite a long distance relationship but it will reward me with shiny bling before the summer is over, I am sure!
And Iβm not to be satisfied by merely one or two challenges, so on the side Iβve signed up for a quick row (!) of 34km across the English Channel via an indoor rowing machine.
So hereβs to 2021, a year where Iβll hopefully be blinded by the real sparkle of fake gold as I finish all my βRβ-Challenges, including RunLEJOG, Rowing the English Channel and Running Hadrianβs Wall!
Keep on keeping on! Happy running, rowing and bling-winning RunLEJOGging fun, everyone!

I am also cheating as well as LEJOG4 I am doing a year long challenge for 2021 running/walking 50km every month for a year, but will count my kmβs for both. Hereβs to both of us succeeding.
Hi CBDB Iβm sad to say Iβm also two-timing LEJOG4 in the new year. Iβm over 500 miles into that challenge so Iβm also taking on Route 66 (organised by the same people) to keep myself going. That challenge is 2,278 miles but you do get 2 years to complete it. Iβm hoping to run the entire distance but my spreadsheet is set up so I can log walking separately in case I need to use it. You can also cycle on that challenge but I donβt have a bike!
I'm also cheating on LEJOG 4 by starting the Route 66 challenge. I've done Route 66 in real life and am looking forward to seeing the things that we didn't have time for. At least we have 2 years to complete this.
See you in Chicago. Lou Mitchell's is a must for breakfast before leaving, everyone doing route 66 should go there before starting the journey.
Iβm up for breakfast at Lou Mitchellβs. π One thing the Americans are great at is breakfast. We lived there for 13 years and a friend of ours was an avid fan of diners. Just wow! π₯°
Iβm currently around 530 miles into LEJOG4, but on January 1st Iβm spreading my love thin and embarking on Route 66. π Itβs a 2 year challenge (itβs 2,278 miles so just as well π³).
I love these challenge and Iβm including all my runs and dog walks. πββοΈπΎ
And another provider is Conqueror virtual races, with a little bit more choice, from here theconqueror.events/all-cha...
I fear they are not free but reasonable. But for me, they certainly worked to motivate me, and they do have real medals.
As you read, I am doing virtual challenges now with both of the above, as I also wanted to try these new companies out.
For info:
EndtoEnd is a company based in Britain
Conqueror is a company based in New Zealand
Hope the chosing will be fun! And there are other challenges that are free of course, like the currenlty still (another few days) challenge organised by our own community over at Marathon and Races. Link healthunlocked.com/marathon...
Brill to have another virtual runner! I am sure you'll have fun!!!
It had better be SlowMo! I still have over 300 miles until I get to JOG and Iβd hate to not be able to count them against Route 66 too. Itβll be fine! π
The best events are the ones you can do in tandem π€£ I've even been known to connect a strava or garmin challenge as I reach the end of the month knowing it's in the bagπ€£ happy running π€
Thank you for your positive post and for the idea of the Hadrian's Wall challenge! I've just joined (my first virtual challenge) and think it'll be great fun!
