After 3 days completely unable to motivate myself either to run or walk, today my aim was simply to break this spell of weary resignation. No pressure, just a short 3k would be enough. In the event, I managed 3.55k. No jeffed walk intervals on this outing. I equalled my best pace in the 3-5k distance range (7.19 mins per km). Very happy all round. π
Even more so that I also managed perfect negative splits. ππ OK, I realise, over a mere 4 splits the statistical chance of doing that by sheer chance is be higher than on longer runs. (Nowster can surely confirm the actual figure for achieving this amazing feat through contingent means?) However, I actually *tried* to control my pace, so I think Iβll take the credit. ππ 7:48, 7:33, 6:54, 6:43. Towards the end, my audio reported a current pace under 6:00.
And credit too to Sola, who ran yesterday after a day of total work hell, prompting me to get off my proverbial. ππππππ
My semi-somnambulant state hasnβt completely dissipated: I can barely recall a thing about this run other than the periodic audio stats and my body moving.

Haha! I never think of myself as a gremlin fighter but I guess thatβs right. The little blighters have been ruling the roost this week. No more! πͺπΌπββοΈππ»ββοΈπ
Now I can see your image (I'm working on my laptop instead of browsing on my mobile). Getting this right over 13k must be quite a challenge. You clearly needed to switch down a gear on the 4th, 8th and 11th, so maybe as you become accustomed and strengthen further you'll even out those dips. However, if you step back and take the bigger view, you can see that your overall curve has it. More: Given that splits are averages, I've been tempted to calculate how this looks if splits are reimagined averaged across 2k instead of 1k. I mean, why not? It's just a convention. And any one conventional split will have likely multiple paces. (OMG, what's happening to me?) Allowing for my miscalculations (very high risk, for the reasons stated in my post), on my back-of-the-envelope the unconventional double split reckoning came out: 8:48, 8:40, 8:11, 8.03, 8:00, 8:05, 7:15... You really did almost have it nearly perfect; just the 11-12k stretch switched down (and not by much). Excellent stuff! Looked at this way, you were way more successful on that 13k than you realise.
Thanks , as you say the 'Trend' was there but it takes too much concentration on a long run , and to be honest, watching the watch can spoil the enjoyment of the run
I do hope so. Itβs very weird it all being a blank. Iβve some recollection of a woman overtaking me, then stopping so I overtook her, and then she restarted and came past me again. I noticed she wore Sweaty Betty leggings. What a thing to have remembered!
Thanks, nowster . I've just recalculated Instructor57 's 13k splits (or tried), so you might want to check my arithmetic (in this thread). As we know, I'm a bit sleepy at the moment (although less so today), but am also prone to making silly errors in reckoning. I did an autopilot run on c25k: unexpectedly, it was a really good run after a very bad night's sleep, which is why I recall it. Auto is the antithesis of how I usually run. Little things from it are starting to creep back into my memory (see reply above to Jericho2332 ).
Reassuring in oh so many ways. Ebb and flow is my philosophy.
Well done, I'm also a bit in a rut. Either not running because it's too hot or not running because I just don't feel like it. In 2 weeks I have only run 2 times (each time on Saturday). So I really should get of my ass and go out! I'll (try to) take your run as an example. No pressure, just run to have a run done.
Go for it, Hidden ! We won't put pressure on you, but we are on standby to cheer you. Just imagine the celebration π It was SueAppleRun who spurred me on. Hurrah for B210k!! On the plus, you have maintained a weekly run, which, I guess, really shouldn't be underestimated.π
Well done , weary resignation is definitelyβa thingβ , and a run of whatever length, pace or quality can shed that βcloakβ.My lovely mother in law at times would say βYouβre a bit βhumdrumβ today Jeanβ and she was spot on .
I have been observing myself coming home from work early afternoon and sitting on the same sofa in the sunroom , doing nothing but drinking coffee, surfing the net and listening to audio books , then sighing because I have dinner to make again ππ₯±.
Iβm off today and writing this from βthat sofaβ , so I need some dynamite before I grow roots.
High days and low days π good that you decided to take charge and get out πͺππ»ββοΈ
Excellent 3.5 K and your pace and splits are admirable π
Job done , onwards and upwards ππ
( your βsemi somnambulantβ state reminds me of the soporific rabbits in Mr MacGregors garden ππ°π°π°)
Thanks, RacingintheStreet π°π°π°π°π° ππ€£ That's me... or was me. I'm now feeling a bit more zippy. A sort of soft and gentle zippy... one that's all marshmellowy around the edges... so still in danger of relapsing to those sleepy garden π°. Your mum's 'a bit humdrum' is a perfect descriptor, too. Today, I'm saying 'zippy' a lot in the hope that it takes root in my imagination and that I come to believe in my inner zippiness. The zippy emoji, though, don't look too happy.π€π€π€π
Oh I think βzippyβ is the mantra thoβπ In spite of π€π€Iβve gone with the π§¨π£π§¨approach and have given the windows and floor of said sunroom a βgoing overβ π§Ήπ§Ήπͺ£π§½.
In my attempt to break my cycle of lethargy I have relocated to the other sofa for my coffee ππβοΈπ
