Good morning runners! Happy hump day! What a beautiful morning it is here too π I spent yesterday recharging my batteries, laid soaking in the sun all day, drinking coffee and watching the birds take advantage of my new feeder I built them, a good day. Also the new Garmin Fenix 6 pro arrived so had a play with that and got all excited for a run this morning π€£
I was up early, like 4:30 early, like a kid at Xmas π€£ forced myself to relax a bit and tried to have another hours sleep but just tossed and turned, eventually was dressed and out for 5:45. 1km warm up walk, stretches and away!
I'd decided last night I was going for the 5km record of 26.22 so set off pretty quick, new watch though so didn't really know how my prompts where set up, decided just to run like hell and worry about times at 5k finish line π€£
I know I felt fast over 2km and chose to ignore the voice telling me to slow down, instead pushing myself on even through the uphill after the dip at about 2.5, then again at the long uphill stretch at about 3.5km.
This must be close I though, glanced at the watch and time wise seemed ahead of schedule but wasn't sure. By now the sun was getting really warm, 1km to go and I tried to push on as fast as I could, the last half a km seemed to take forever and I could hear the blood pumping! Crossed the line and was amazed when I saw the time of 25.27! Absolutely smashed the PB and was sooo close to sub 25 min 5k!
I then noticed all the Strava medals rolling in and was smiling from ear to ear π new personal bests at almost everything π
