A ‘cut short’ Long run 🤷🏼‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️ and NRC intervals …..well 😂😂 it’s good to be able to laugh at yourself isn’t it 🤦‍♀️🤪

After last weeks concurrent PB’s on my two 5K runs I was keen to quit while I was ahead and mix my runs up a bit this week. I fancied doing the NRC ‘No time, Go Time ‘ Run as recommended by Beatlesforever and/or maybe a long run.

So on Tuesday morning I set out not really knowing which I’d end up doing but I had downloaded the guided run anyway.

Once out I decided I was in the mood for something different ( and if I’m honest ,shorter 😂👌 as it was already heating up ) . Also I know I’m still a bit perplexed with pace, not really ‘getting’ what my mile, 5K & 10K pace ought to be , so maybe the coach could sort me out 👍.

So it was to be 5 mins at easy , warm up pace , 1 min @ my mile pace (🤷🏼‍♀️) , 2 mins @ 5k pace, 3 mins @ 10k pace then a repeat of each in reverse with 2 minutes recovery in between.

Well it was hilarious really , I finished the warm up and got ready for my minute of ‘fast ‘9 out ten ‘ effort first interval , shot off and ran at I think a ‘15 out of ten’ effort 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🥵🥵. Had to walk the two minute recovery and even then pause the app for a bit more 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Eventually sorted myself with some serious self talk ( some of it probably out loud too 😂😂) and ended up really enjoying it .

Pace as in pic , just shows what we are capable of when we ask it of ourselves 💪, bearing n mind it’s only a minute tho’ 😄

Great suggested NRC run from BF 👌will def do again , helped sort out relationship between effort and pace etc. Think m gradually ‘getting it’ 🙄

Yesterday morning I had a notion ( fleeting as it turned out 🙄😂) that I might just attempt my first 10K for a long run or even an 8K which is currently my longest run.

Five minutes in and I was in ‘let’s just make it a 20 minute run’ territory 😂😂

It was humid and unusually still, not a wisp of breeze at all and I very quickly started to negotiate with myself as to when I could stop this run as it wasn’t ‘clicking at all’ .

I stuck with it and went from ‘3K will do’ to well ‘maybe I could manage 4’ to ‘well I might as well dig in and do a 5K for Not Parkrun ‘ ….. so that’s what I did 🏃🏻‍♀️👌

Not as fast as my previous two which is good as it kind of broke the cycle of each run getting a faster time …… don’t need that pressure 😄😂🏃🏻‍♀️

Lovely mornings for both outings and after my run yesterday I went off to Glencoe with my youngest daughter to visit her sister and my grandchildren . Lovely and sunny in the West and we went a super walk near Loch Leven below the Ballachulish bridge. Lots of wooded trails next to the water which I might take a run round on my next visit.

Glad you enjoyed the 'no time? Go time' run, it's one I'll be doing again for sure 👍 glad you sorted out your '15 out of ten' pace issues 😅 impressive splits on both runs 👏👏👏 beautiful pic, can't wait to visit Scotland again 😍

Yes ! Good recommendation Bf😃 I think I’m Better at knowing what slow is now but say ‘speed’ or ‘fast’ and I confuse myself with a 100 metre Sprinter 😂😂💪

Anything in between that I’ve never spent enough time trying to understand 🤷🏼‍♀️

I think I’ll need a few shots at it for it to fall into place .

Nice change tho’ and stops me from getting a bit jaded 👌😄

Your name *is* RacingintheStreet so it's no surprise you can't hold back during those Usain Bolt type sprints ⚡😉 🤣

Impressive stuff, even if you cut back the 10 to 5k. Running at full tilt for a few seconds is an achievement (for me, at least 🤣); a whole minute is quite a long interval. 🙌👏

Don’t know why I even thought the 10 was an idea , having only reached an ‘out of the blue’ 8.2.It just lingers there at the back of my mind 🤔🏃🏻‍♀️.

I’m going to do this run regularly tho’ as I did feel I was sensing a strong pace in there somewhere , that is maybe a my 5K pace. I’ve though5 recently tha5 I’ve spent so much time slowing down my starting pace ( very necessary) that maybe I’m forgetting to sort of release the brake and not running at a ‘new’ natural pace 🤷🏼‍♀️

I clearly can’t run as fast as those intervals suggest as I was 🥵🥵🥵🥵

Good fun and interesting though.

Good to see you are also enjoying your runs , I’ve a fair bit of catch up reading to do . Your posts are always so descriptive, I seem to forget everything by the time I get around to posting 🤦‍♀️

Fun and interesting: keep that vibe going (however 🥵😰) and I bet you’ll soon be at 10. Definitely know what you mean: I guess it’s channeling the energy release that’s key, but it’s sometimes nice just to let it flow (or stutter and pant… whatever)!😂

Definitely got stutter and pant ‘down to a tee’ 😂

It’s always fun to mix things up a bit and it’s so good for our running! Good for you 🙂

PS I talk to myself too 🙄

Thanks and yes you’re right it’s good not to get stuck in a rut and the intervals are good for trying to improve bit .I quite enjoy chatting to myself and having a bit of a chuckle too 😂😂

I’ve avoided that guided run because I haven’t a clue about 5k or 10k pace etc but might give it a go and see what happens, your runs sound great and what a beautiful setting

I also didn't know what my different paces are when I did the run but the coach is very good at explaining how they should feel in terms of effort 👍

I really enjoyed it and know I don’t do enough variety too. I can get a bit ‘hum drum’ with doing the same thing so this perked me up a bit.My pace has always been a bit of a mystery and I suppose I’m only really bothered about it if I think I’d like to run longer because I wouldn’t manage that unless I slowed down from what I run a 5 K at 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Anyway good fun but I need to practise it a few times and stop thinking I’ m an Olympic sprinter 🥵🥵

Yes my daughter takes the children to this wee bay quite a lot , very quiet, hidden and such a calming , peaceful view. 🙏😌

I have no idea about pace, either! I would guess my 5K pace is ‘slow’ and my 10K pace is ‘slower than that’ 😂

Well done for your run, sounds good to me 👏👏👏👍

Thank you ! Yes I’m getting the hang now of 5K in comparison to 10K just in terms of needing a steadier easy pace to go the longer distance . The mile pace is the one I shoot off like a sprinter for and would never keep it up over a mile 😂😂

I think It’s as though I’ve been waiting for someone to tell me what these different paces are exactly , which of course is ridiculous 🤦‍♀️😂

Good fun and different tho’ 😄
