After last weeks concurrent PB’s on my two 5K runs I was keen to quit while I was ahead and mix my runs up a bit this week. I fancied doing the NRC ‘No time, Go Time ‘ Run as recommended by Beatlesforever and/or maybe a long run.
So on Tuesday morning I set out not really knowing which I’d end up doing but I had downloaded the guided run anyway.
Once out I decided I was in the mood for something different ( and if I’m honest ,shorter 😂👌 as it was already heating up ) . Also I know I’m still a bit perplexed with pace, not really ‘getting’ what my mile, 5K & 10K pace ought to be , so maybe the coach could sort me out 👍.
So it was to be 5 mins at easy , warm up pace , 1 min @ my mile pace (🤷🏼♀️) , 2 mins @ 5k pace, 3 mins @ 10k pace then a repeat of each in reverse with 2 minutes recovery in between.
Well it was hilarious really , I finished the warm up and got ready for my minute of ‘fast ‘9 out ten ‘ effort first interval , shot off and ran at I think a ‘15 out of ten’ effort 🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🥵🥵. Had to walk the two minute recovery and even then pause the app for a bit more 🤦♀️🤦♀️
Eventually sorted myself with some serious self talk ( some of it probably out loud too 😂😂) and ended up really enjoying it .
Pace as in pic , just shows what we are capable of when we ask it of ourselves 💪, bearing n mind it’s only a minute tho’ 😄
Great suggested NRC run from BF 👌will def do again , helped sort out relationship between effort and pace etc. Think m gradually ‘getting it’ 🙄
Yesterday morning I had a notion ( fleeting as it turned out 🙄😂) that I might just attempt my first 10K for a long run or even an 8K which is currently my longest run.
Five minutes in and I was in ‘let’s just make it a 20 minute run’ territory 😂😂
It was humid and unusually still, not a wisp of breeze at all and I very quickly started to negotiate with myself as to when I could stop this run as it wasn’t ‘clicking at all’ .
I stuck with it and went from ‘3K will do’ to well ‘maybe I could manage 4’ to ‘well I might as well dig in and do a 5K for Not Parkrun ‘ ….. so that’s what I did 🏃🏻♀️👌
Not as fast as my previous two which is good as it kind of broke the cycle of each run getting a faster time …… don’t need that pressure 😄😂🏃🏻♀️
Lovely mornings for both outings and after my run yesterday I went off to Glencoe with my youngest daughter to visit her sister and my grandchildren . Lovely and sunny in the West and we went a super walk near Loch Leven below the Ballachulish bridge. Lots of wooded trails next to the water which I might take a run round on my next visit.
