Indoors on treadmill: Managed to run the 4 miles (6.4K) today with relative ease. My left knee was a bit sore last night so I put some volterol on it and got the massage gun out this morning and it held up well. I’m doing stretches after my runs now to keep my muscles and tendons in good working order.
All of the fartleks and interval speed runs are paying off. I sped up at the end after starting off on a deliberately slow pace even for me as I was concerned that the increase from 5K to 6.4K this week was going to be difficult. I needn’t have worried as the NRC training app has prepared me brilliantly for the increased distances. I honestly felt I could have gone on and run 10K today which is a good sign, as I never feel that way usually. Probably all the running from the last year is bearing fruit too.
I intended on running outside today but I don’t want to run in this level of heat. I’ll wait for the end of the week when it cools down a little and see if my much improved fitness translates to outdoors. My stomach is still a bit epic and so I’ll wait for another two weeks and then maybe start weighing myself just to keep me honest. I’m great at self deception over weight. Anyway, the training is going very well and I just hope my knees hold up as I can feel real progress.

Great run, on a treadmill too 🙆🏻♀️ Even in this heat I’d go out rather than face a treadmill. Your training is definitely paying off, just watch that weight , you can’t use the “muscle heavier than fat” excuse forever😂 happy running 🤗
😂 I never use the muscle weighs heavier than fat argument. I use the ‘out myself and stop ordering takeaways self shaming plan’ - until I see some evidence that my stomach is diminishing exponentially I shall continue to be brutally honest. Going to start weighing myself again in 2 weeks. Wanted to give myself a chance to eat healthily for a month first which I’m mostly managing.
I find the treadmill easier than running outside for some reason.
