An in-between-the-Magic-Plan run with the dog ๐Ÿฆฎ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

โ€ข24 Replies

I restarted the timed Magic Plan last week while visiting my family and ran the first run with my dog and sister. Unfortunately (?) my progress was impeded by too much good food and wine, ๐Ÿฑ๐Ÿท so I have inevitably had a few extra days between runs......

Well, I remedied that this morning with a 17 minute bonus run to get myself back into the swing of things before tackling the 30 minute w1r2 which will see me back on the plan. ๐Ÿ˜ณ I'm a little worried that my momentum was interrupted so soon, but hey-ho, the only way has to be up from here.

I took my dog Isla with me again for our second run together, and I am pleased to report we were both much better at it this time round - I didn't hurdle her once today, so that's a definite improvement ๐Ÿ˜Š. Trying to photograph the dog while running however is going to take some practice.....๐Ÿ“ท๐Ÿ•๐Ÿฅบ! I managed to get her roughly in frame in the attached photos!

Happy running everyone ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

What a cutie your Isla is ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ well done on getting back on that wagon. Don't be too hard on yourself, it's been such a long time since we've been able to enjoy the company of family and friends I think a bit of a celebration is in order๐Ÿท๐Ÿพ ๐ŸŽ‰ but you've made up for it with that extra long run today ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘I bet Isla is going to have loads of fun as your running companion yay ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Thank you Beatles! You make me feel that I can let myself off the hook of feeling guilty โ˜บ๏ธ. I enjoyed my run today. I found I was concentrating so much on Isla that I ran on automatic pilot!

I'm sure hurdling counts as cross training :D It's a shame you didn't get to practice today!

Joking aside, that's great, well done!

Teehee ๐Ÿ™ƒ hurdling could become a new event on the forum!

This makes me laugh ๐Ÿคฃ food and wine interrupting your running plans, sounds the best excuse to me ๐Ÿ˜„It's great that you can run with Isla ๐Ÿ‘

I know! Isla can help me run off the extra poundsโ€ฆ.. mind you, no matter how much running I do I donโ€™t seem to be able to whittle bits off ๐Ÿ™„.

Ah what a lovely furry friend! Well done on your run ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ, Isla is obviously getting the hang of it ๐Ÿ˜Š.

โ€ข in reply toFrenc

Thank you Frenc. Isla and I are working on getting the hang of it together. There were fewer stumbles and hurdles today ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ. She had a huge sleep when we got home as we walked for a good stretch either side of our run ๐Ÿ’ค ๐Ÿถ ๐Ÿฅฐ. Definitely a pooped pooch!

Lovely post and Isla looks like sheโ€™s enjoying herself

โ€ข in reply toSueAppleRun

Yay, she did enjoy it and so did I! I think weโ€™ll keep up the practice on the short runs. Iโ€™m not sure sheโ€™s ready for a 30 minute run yet ๐Ÿ˜‰.

Well done DD. Had my new granddaughters christening last Saturday! Still recovering. Not been in a group of 30 people for over a year! Xx

How lovely to celebrate with family and friends. Iโ€™m sure you had a wonderful time. I can imagine being in a large group could be quite daunting just now. Iโ€™m part of a vaccination team working in a big hall, so have got used to larger numbers again. However I still havenโ€™t been out shopping beyond our little local supermarket and the garden centre. All in good time and everyone each to their own. Weโ€™ll get there ๐Ÿค— xx

It wasnโ€™t daunting so much but draining I have forgotten how to laugh, talk , and listen to lots of people. Well done you for running vaccination centre. Really admire you for that.

How nice to be able to get out and about a bit more and a grandson too. How could you not celebrate ๐Ÿ˜Š.Lovely dog Delly-dot. I would love to run with Pitta when she's old enough but she stops at every interesting smell when we walk so I'm not sure it will work.

โ€ข in reply toLifluf

Hi Lifluf. Unfortunately I canโ€™t claim the lovely new grandson, that honour belongs to Bluebirdrunner ๐Ÿฅฐ.

Running with Isla is interestingโ€ฆโ€ฆ Like Pitta (wonderful name), she is also very interested in smells, so we have to make time for plenty sniffing (and the โ€˜toiletingโ€™) before we start to run. That said, she does occasionally veer off sideways to follow her nose, but sheโ€™s not too bad. Iโ€™m only doing short runs with her just now, so donโ€™t know how sheโ€™d be over a longer distance. Iโ€™ll build that up gradually if it looks like sheโ€™s still enjoying it. She slept all morning yesterday once we got home!

I've got a few months to wait before she's old enough but short runs sounds like the way to start.I see runners pass my house sometimes with dogs and they make it look so easy. Good luck with Isla - she certainly looked like she was enjoying herself in the picture.
