What a difference 6 days make !

My last run was 6 days ago (or was it 7 🀣)

Anyway, what I do remember is it was my worst run ever !! I did 5K and after 1K I wanted it to be over 😐😭😐

BUT, I had signed up for the London Vitality Virtual 10000 run , and the window for running was getting closer !

The problem was, that last run had got into my head ! The Gremlins were having a party in there !😈😈😈

I had not decided what day in the window I would do the run , but looking at the weather forecast, and having the weekend off, I thought today was a perfect opportunity before it warmed up too much as is forecast for the week ahead .

It was also a late Runniversary run as my first year running was on 24th May !

So I thought it would be a good way to celebrate !

I went out around 10 :15 ish .

In very lightweight shorts and lightweight t shirt and this was just right !

I set off at a reasonable pace for a 10k and from the start the run felt so much better than the previous one !

I was running to the NRC 10K Head Starts Run .

I have never used a 10K NRC Run before and this was good !

With little thought provoking questions throughout the run , just enough to keep you interested but not that frequent to be annoying 😁

I followed my usual route and the first 3, 4 and 5K passed comfortably and I was managing to maintain what felt like a fairly steady pace , more importantly, no aches, pains or niggles 😁

By about 7K I was starting to feel quite warm ! Even in the most minimal of clothing .

Luckily it was still a little cloudy so preventing the sun coming through too much !

I passed my next door neighbour walking back from the shops with a fairly warm coat on and she looked hotter than me !

We passed and exchanged greetings on the move 😁

At around 9K I was feeling a little tired so glad I was nearly there 😁

The NRC Run finished 10k well before my Garmin so of course I carried on until Mr Garmin hit 10K .

Back home to water , stretches then a big mug of tea 😁

Looking at the stats I managed to get a 10K PB on this run also for my first run of my 2nd running year 😬 .

So, Vitality Run done on the first day the window opened !

And the Gremlins can go and do one !!! 🀣🀣🀣

Happy running VRB's πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Congratulations on completing that 10K and the London Vitality Virtual 10,000, well done πŸ˜€ πŸƒπŸΎ,

I intend to run it next Wednesday morning, not sure what the process is to prove that you have ran it, this morning I ran my 50th not parkrun, during the run I saw 3 runners who had the Vitality London 10 000 bib around their waist

Super well done Ian! For your 10k, runniversary, and of course, beating those bloomin’ gremlins. That all deserves a huge pat on the back in my book. I swear by the NRC runs, so I’m glad you enjoyed it. Onwards and upwards methinks for you now. Hurrah πŸ˜ƒπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ‘.

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Frenc

Many thanks πŸ˜πŸ‘I really enjoyed it .

And I thought if I did the NRC 10k then that's another reason not to stop early 🀣🀣🀣

Frenc profile image
FrencGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Instructor57

Indeed! Mind you the NRC never quite agrees with my Mr Garmin, so I have to run just slightly further to do the same distance with the NRC.

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Frenc

Yes, absolutely ! NRC was certainly at 10K before my Garmin , so as you say , just kept running 😁

Amazing, I was looking at the Head start runs this morning, maybe try one tomorrow So glad your run was better than the last, you obviously needed the break

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to SueAppleRun

Thank you ! πŸ‘Yes the head start was a good run !

I was a bit concerned doing it after 6 or 7 days but it went well πŸ˜¬πŸ‘

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Instructor57

Sometimes a break means you run on fresh legs, I didn’t wish you happy runniversary so do now and that’s a good time for 10 k mine took much longer

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to SueAppleRun

Thank you !

And yes i certainly felt better on this run !Strange really, I went from my last run being my slowest 5k to this one being my fastest 10k 😁

And the first run of my 2nd year running 😬

Congratulations Ian that’s a cracking 10k, I remember hitting my PB when I did last years, I think it’s the thought in your mind that this is actually a race and it spurs you on. I’ve not done mine yet, will do in the next day or so, haven’t done a 10k for a while so fingers crossed it’ll go ok. 🀞

Well done, Ian - lots to be proud of with this run! Firstly - overcoming the gremlins and getting out there! Not always as easy at it sounds when you’ve had a run previously that you weren’t happy with.

Then you ran for 10K and got a PB, successfully completing the virtual Vitality 10,000.

And lastly congratulations on your Runniversary. A whole year of running! Amazing!

I’m in your neck of the woods today in Shrewsbury! 😊☺️

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Jools2020

Thanks Julia ,Yes it was a good run to complete.

It went from the slowest 5k last time to a 10k P B this time 😁

Enjoy your time in Shrewsbury 😁 πŸ‘

Are you going anywhere ?

The Dingle is a lovely place for a walk 😁

Yay congratulations!! πŸŽ‰πŸ₯‚πŸ€Έ I also completed mine yesterday but it took me 1:34. Not complaining given how little running I've been able to do since January and the fact that I spent all of last week sitting still doing jury service πŸ™„Hope you celebrated that PB, what a great start to your second running year πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Instructor57 profile image

Thank you ! And congratulations on doing yours ! 😁

As you say, especially as you did not run much recently , well done πŸ˜πŸ‘

I was let off jury service 2 years ago because of the impact it would have had on my self employment

Well done on your Runniversary I57! I love CB on the NRC - he's definitely encouraging when the going gets tough. My 1st year Runnivesary is next month - I need to graduate as a 10k-er by then!!

I enroled in the London Vitality 10000 but it's moved north to Hatfield Pk so not sure I can make it. So will try and do my own virtual version instead! No medal though!

Here's to your 2nd year of running 😍😍😍

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to 58soon

Thank you !Yes, I enjoy the NRC Runs .

Oh, I'm sure you will do the 10k ! You have already done 60 minutes so can't be too far away now πŸ‘πŸ˜

Oh that's a blow you can't do the run !

But just to get to your 10k will be as good as any medal πŸ˜πŸ‘

Congratulations on beating the gremlins, your runniversary & getting your 10k PB done! I was almost the same, although I started so early (unlike me for a Saturday, but woke early with the pre-race heebie-jeebies so just went for it), I was probably back before you started. I did a NRC run as well, but just the standard 10k one with Coach Bennett & it was really helpful. I was glad to get out & back before it got too hot (in Darkest Lanarkshire - I know!). I don't think I'll be doing another 10k any time soon as my hip is getting too unreliable, but I'm so glad I managed this one, and my time was better than I expected πŸ₯³. Well done!

Race number & time.

Thank you ! 😁And well done with yours also .

We had similar times 😁

I was going to go earlier also but couldn't get out of bed haha 🀣

Oh, hope your hip behaves ! Mine gets a bit niggly from time to time but strangely enough it's ok after this one

Just read your brilliant post and what a great time ! Now you can look forward to your medal πŸ…πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰
