Hi everyone, this morning I was determined to go for a longer run. I have done quite a few 10 ks & the odd 12k but I knew this morning I wanted to do more. According to Nike Run Club I did 10 miles but on my fitbit I did 12 miles. I'm taking it as I did 10 miles but what does everyone else think? Would you take it as the 10 or 12 miles?
10 or 12?: Hi everyone, this morning I was... - Bridge to 10K
10 or 12?

It's a tricky one. I'm always more amazed that something that far up in space can find and track something not much bigger than a £2 coin at all (and a little bit peturbed, but I try not to think of that), lete alone that it does it accurately. GPS chips in different devices are notoriously fickle. I find there's about a 10% difference between the distance my Garmin registers and my phone (the Garmin always being the lower figure).
There really is no way of actually knowing which is more accurate unless you can do an actual measured run and see which is closest (and even then, they may both be wrong).
Personally, unless I know for certain otherwise, I always tend to go with the lower distance. I'd rather feel comfortable "knowing" that I've done at least that far and may have actually done more, than have the nagging doubt that actually I may not be running as far as I think I am.
There are no right answers, I'm afraid and even someone doing the same run might get a different distance on NRC if they are using a different phone from you.
Thank you so much for your reply! I have told myself I have done 10 miles which to me is amazing as its the furthest I have ever run. Now an afternoon on the sofa drinking tea! Haha!

Whichever it was a fantastic long run, well done. Going on your normal time for a 10k run how does it compare. Happy running 🤗
Thank you!!! I slowed my pace right down as I wanted to complete this run. It took me 2 hours, I know that's not a particularly fast time but for me it was more about the distance. I was so proud of myself when I had finished.

Not sure whether you did 10 or 12 miles but either way - well done on a great distance!🙂

I was looking at Runkeeper.com site this morning. It allows you to trace a route on a map very quickly then it snaps to the closest roads and paths and gives you a distance.I traced my last route on an ipad with a finger and it literally took seconds to work it out.
Have a go using this. Not a solo sure it’s any more accurate but it’s what I use to plan a run. It might confirm a 10 or 12 mile if nothing else.
