My calendar countdown tells me it’s 18 days to go unto the Global Running Day on 2nd June. For those that are not aware GRD is a day that celebrates the sport of running, held annually on the first Wednesday of June. See Wikipedia entry: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glo...
Annoyingly they seem to have decided on a Wednesday, so long runs are out for me.
But is anyone else planning to celebrate running on that day with a special running activity?

I had never heard of this but I feel obliged to do something now I know about it. Shall look for inspiration in the responses but I think I should try something that I haven't done before.
That sounds like a great way to approach it. My mind was initially immediately jumping to long distance, but as you suggest, one can be a bit more creative! (Try a new podcast, new app, new interval, new method for monitoring , etc etc) . Nice, you got me thinking!
I've never heard of this either but it's on my calendar now. I don't think I'll be up to running far by then, it'll probably still mainly be walking rather than running. But yep I'm sure I can think of something, a run at the beach would be fantastic and different.....Keep reminding us though 😊
Ooooh hadn’t heard of this before. I won’t be able to do a long one as it’s a work day. But maybe I’ll take the day off to try something completely different be it distance or route! 🏃♀️🦶🏃♂️🦶🏃♀️🦶🏃♂️
Ha CBDB, I have already marked in my running diary that Wednesday 2nd June is the day that I am running that London Vitality Virtual 10,000, it certainly would be a good idea for everyone who is running that 10,000 to run it on Global Running Day.
Great idea for us all to run on that day - the energy on this forum will inspire the most nervous of us to run. I thought the London VV 10000 was postponed, but I did sign up for it, and whether it is or not I'll be there. Haven't managed a 10k yet.... so there's the challenge! Happy running VRBs. Let's go it together! 😍😍😍😍😍
Oh it’s half term isn’t it! I’m hoping to run the 10k with my family, so I assumed it would be at the weekend. If I’m not vaccinating that day, we could do Wednesday!
Hadn't heard about it, but will definitely pencil in a run now for that day. Be good if we all take part and post what we've done and where about we did it, be interesting to see what areas of the UK we covered!!😄🏃♀️
Oh I hadn't heard of that but will make the effort now. Won't be able to do my london 10000 that day but could maybe try something different as mentioned? Can only run early morning or late evening though so would probably be local route .....hmm thinking now....
