Hi I graduated about 2 weeks ago and so far I've just been doing a few runs just over 30mins but at quite a slow pace not sure what next steps are supposed to be so joined here to hopefully stop me quitting the running now I've done some. Any advice tips or motivation would be welcome
Hi, I'm a recent C25K graduate: Hi I graduated... - Bridge to 10K
Hi, I'm a recent C25K graduate
First of all, well done on graduating. It’s a fantastic achievement. I did the same almost a year ago, having started at the beginning of lockdown 1. I have made use of Couch to 5K Plus podcasts, which offer three different runs. You will get lots of advice about how to take things further. Find the one that suits you best, but don’t give up. Keep on running.
Great, congratulations 🎉🥂🎉, consolidate those 30 minute runs for a few more weeks then you will be ready for the 10km plan. Also you will be running in warmer weather, this ( for me) is much harder so you definitely need to be well hydrated, but enjoy it🤩
Hi brozwn! A lot of people enjoy the Nike Run Club app. There’s so much choice on there, and you can slowly increase your distance if you want to. Congratulations on graduating btw! 😊🏃♀️
Thank you I use Strava and Fitbit at the mo but might look into it if I can't find a way to set it up on one of those, is it a subscription to set up the distances and such?
Read the pinned post about moving on. There are options there to steer you forward.
Slow is smart by the way 🙂.
Congratulations firstly. It’s a fair old effort getting this far and the good news is you’ve done most of the physically hard part. The next part is more mentally tricky in keeping going and motivating yourself.
For me the key part is sticking to what it is you’re aiming for and not losing sight of it. I’m pretty simple in that my aim is to be fit, stay fit and be old and bald without adding fat into the equation as well. Since graduating I’ve not really budged from 5-5.5k as I’ve had niggles and minor injuries as I’ve figured out how to avoid them and adjusted my style. I’m hoping to get up to 10k this year but I’m in no rush as that 10k isn’t my goal. Every run I count as an achievement as it’s not sitting on the couch and I’ve love running to music so much.
Consolidate your running for a few weeks and figure out what it is you want out of running. Could be to run as fast as you can, as long as you can, as often as you can or as novelly as you can. Whatever it is hold onto that as it’ll keep you going through the runs where you feel like crap, there’s a biting wind and hail in your face and perhaps still find some pleasure in it
Hey brozwn have you heard of parkrun? It's a free weekly timed run and you can walk, jog and run. It's restarting in June after lockdown and you can look up to see if there is one near you. Every Saturday at 9am, free to register and free to take part. After I graduated C25K I found my weekly parkrun to be a great incentive to carry on running and midweek you can still do longer or shorter training runs
