On 23 April 2018, having downloaded the app 3 weeks earlier, I finally dug out my old trainers and a pair of trackie bottoms. Peering cautiously out of the door to make sure none of the neighbours could see me, I set off to do W1 R1 of C25k. 30 minutes later I arrived home, sweaty, breathless and feeling as though I was dying. It then took me a whole week before I plucked up the courage to go again and I seriously doubted I would finish the programme. The first few weeks were hell and then I cracked the infamous W5R3 and something clicked. The rest is history as they say. So, this morning, under a stunning clear blue sky, I went to do a celebratory 5k (it will probably be this weekβs (not) parkrun too, because we are going round to friends for a bbq this afternoon and I canβt guarantee Iβll be in a fit state to run tomorrow π). A nice gentle run, but I still managed 31.06 and I became a Strava Local Legend π₯³π Sadly, the Red Arrows are out of the country at present (how dare they!), otherwise they would probably have popped out to cheer me on like they often do. Three years ago I could never have imagined that I would still be running and that I would be the fittest I have ever been approaching my 60th birthday. Thank you all you lovely, lovely people for keeping me company through this journey. Keep running πββοΈππ»
Happy Runniversary to me π₯³πββοΈ: On 23 April... - Bridge to 10K

Congratulations on your 3rd Runniversary Sandie, and you have done so well in those 3 years too. I think I was a few weeks ahead of you on the programme, but didnβt look at the forum until week 7. Like you, Iβm far fitter as a result of running, and isnβt it great that weβve made a few friends along the way too? Roll on the return of parkrun and parkrun tourism when we can all meet up again. Cheers to the class of 2018. π₯πΎ

I forgot all about my 5 year Runniversary in November, as I was still recovering from my October Blip!! How time flies. I can still remember that 'cautious feeling' you mention as i crept out of the house, the original Grey Snail!
Enjoy your running as you move on to even greater achievements We shall watch for your posts, as we always do
Floss x
