Runniversary run ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธโ˜€๏ธโ˜€๏ธ

One of my New Year resolutions for 2018 (as for pretty much every year come to that๐Ÿ˜‚) was to get fitter. I had a number of friends who had tried C25K and had seen such improvements I thought Iโ€™d give it a go. It then took 3 months before I downloaded the app and another 3 weeks until 23 April before I put on my battered old dog walking trainers and snuck out making sure none of the neighbours were around. Got back 30 minutes later thinking I am never going to be able to do this. So, 8 days later I did R2. Then I thought if Iโ€™m really going to do this I have to take it more seriously and from then on I stuck to the programme religiously and graduated on 4 July. So, as Iโ€™m working tomorrow, I decided to do my Runniversary run today. I went back to W1R1 but jog/ran instead of walk/jog. Boy, did that feel hard, but a year ago I covered 2.7k and today I did 4.7k. What a difference a year makes. This forum and all you truly lovely virtual, and in some cases no longer virtual, running buddies have really supported, motivated and amused me over that year. Thank you and happy Easter Monday running on this beautiful sunny day ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธโ˜€๏ธ

Well done Sandie, what a difference a year can make! You are now an accomplished runner, and itโ€™s great that you are getting lots of support from hubby too. It was lovely meeting you in Southampton for parkrun and I hope we can do it again somewhere, sometime. Celebrate ๐ŸŽŠ ๐ŸŽ‰ ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿฃ

Thanks Dexy. It was really lovely to meet you too. Cheeky has hinted at Stratford in July? Home run for Katnap and Tailchaser instead of them doing the travelling! x

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply to Sandie1961

Yes I suggested that they stay at home for a change. Iโ€™ve got Stratford-upon-Avon pencilled it but cannot fully commit yet.

Iโ€™ve just seen that itโ€™s Camperjam that weekend in Shropshire, so have suggested to Chris that we book in and escape to Stratford on Saturday, as itโ€™s only an hour away.

Well done for sticking with it ...youโ€™re brilliant!

Keep up the good work and good luck for the next year.

Happy running x

Thank you Wizziewood. I still have to pinch myself that I managed to keep this running malarkey going for a whole year. Unknown for me, but I have well and truly got the bug!

Fantastic Sandie, and happy runniversary! You are an amazing runner and have taken to it like a ๐Ÿฆ† to ๐Ÿ’ฆ Also fabulous to meet you in person at Southampton PR. Whenโ€™s the next one - are you able to make it to Stratford in July or will you be in ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท ?

Iโ€™m thinking of doing the same run for my runniversary in June. Having done intervals this morning, I can imagine how hard W1R1 will be! ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Enjoy the rest of your Easter! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

Thank you dear Cheeky ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Your enthusiasm is one of the things that has kept me going, as we started closely together. You are such a positive runner, itโ€™s infectious. Ooh Stratford in July sounds good as weโ€™re back for the month. My friendโ€™s arriving fromGermany on 20th but I could probably do any other Saturday. Just let me know which one and weโ€™ll roll out the van (or even scrounge a bed with one of my oldest friends who now lives in Stratford) xx

Ooo fantastic Sandie! ๐Ÿ˜€ There was talk of July 6th. TailChaser was going to confirm. Pencil it in for Stratford and letโ€™s keep our fingers crossed! ๐Ÿคž

I sometimes wonder if Iโ€™m a bit too enthusiastic! But Iโ€™m glad Iโ€™ve motivated people. ๐Ÿ˜€ Iโ€™m just paying back the encouragement I got from friendly runners on the forum when I started! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜€

I love your enthusiasm cheeky, itโ€™s wonderful! Yes, Stratford 6th July. The only caveat is that itโ€™s the River Festival weekend so it will be totally heaving (even more than this weekend which is pretty scary!). Thereโ€™s caravan parking at the racecourse but it may be booked up by now x

Sandie1961 profile image
Sandie1961Graduate10 in reply to TailChaser

We could do the following weekend as well if itโ€™s easier for everyone!

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to Sandie1961

I canโ€™t do the 13th unfortunately. We have our summer choir concert. Iโ€™ll be happy to battle the crowds on the 6th if thatโ€™s ok with everyone else?

Iโ€™ll leave home even earlier, no problem! Iโ€™m that keen!! ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

Thank you JoJo. The sub 30 5k still eludes me though - maybe in year 2!

Personally I put more stock in distance and endurance but if you want it, you'll get there ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜‰

Sandie1961 profile image
Sandie1961Graduate10 in reply to GoGo_JoJo

I decided to go to 10k when I got frustrated that I didnโ€™t seem to be getting faster! Donโ€™t want to go beyond 10k currently so maybe some intervals and perhaps tackling the dreaded hills might be the next things to aim for.

GoGo_JoJo profile image

10k is perfectly respectable! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ˜

I really hope we can meet up again soon... a run together would be wonderful! I am looking forward to running in Le Bugue again at some point... I love it there :) Although Cricceth gave the temperatures in France, a run for their money this last weekend!

Take care my friend:)
