Gentle run turned into a 10k run

After what seemed a very long week I decided to go for a long run. It’s a sunny day but feeling a bit cold so I thought a gentle jog to see where it takes me. I picked an hour run from NRC and coach Bennett to guide me on my way.

I headed of to the seafront and was soon warmed up. It’s lovely running on the prom with the smell of the sea and a nice cooling breeze so I just kept on running. Before I knew it I’d ran 5k so I headed back inland and ran along some roads until I can to a road I recognised and headed for home.

As the 60 minutes was coming to an end I looked at my watch and realised I wasn’t that far off 10k, I was feeling strong so I carried on running and ended up running 10k in 1 hour and 6 mins. I felt a little tired with 500m to go so I hope I don’t regret it tomorrow 😀

Have a great weekend everyone 😁

Thanks! I think running by the sea is my favourite run. I live close to the South Downs and I will be running around them when it gets a little warmer. I need to do a bit of planning and make sure I take everything I need, especially food and water 😀

It's my dream to run a sea coast..now restrictions are easing I can plan 🙏I bought a new run belt which can fit a small water bottle and a pocket Which could fit a snack bar or similar 👍

Congratulations on your first 10k 🥳👏🏻👏🏻 🏅 I did my first one on Thursday but it doesn’t sound as nice as yours 😂😂. As a townie I’d love to run along the coast 🌊. I breathed deeply in petrol fumes and grime 😂😂. Great time too.

I don’t like running by roads because you can smell the exhaust fumes. Congratulations on your 10k, what’s your next goal?

I’m going to consolidate at 10k for a while. I find running longer distances difficult mentally as I get bored 😂 I’m going to sign up for the Vitality 10k in May spurred on by CounchPhoenix. Why don’t you!

Thanks. Just finished a round of golf and my legs are feeling a bit ache-y 🤣

Ooo. Relax. Lie on the floor with your legs up the wall for c.10 minutes. Might not solve things, but it’ll make you feel good.
