I downloaded the Stepping-Stones podcast and thought I'd give it a try this morning. Hmm! I couldn't manage to get my pace down to 150, even when I was doing the 5 minute warm up walk.
I stuck with it though and thought it might be easier when she upped it to 155 but I was still out of step. The 160 pace for the last 5 minutes was as near as I could get it but I was still faster.
I have never thought that I was running fast (I know I take short strides).
All in all it was a good run but I'm not sure that I will try it again as I've been happy with my pace up to now and don't know what benefit I would get from running slower.
It’s great practice ! It’s a mixed tempo programme designed to make you run better. It’s not all slow running I assure you. Slow running builds legs mind you. Stick with them They’re really good practice💪👍🙂🏃♀️
Thanks, I will give it a few more tries. I think I will have to lengthen my stride and that will take a bit of doing 😀. I don't mind running slow, I thought I did anyway haha.
Don’t worry about your stride. Just do what comes natural
There are three distinct parts to the c25k+ podcasts, each one designed to bring your running on. I ran them inside out for ages. I left them on my playlist so they often crop up
Low cadence doesn't necessarily equate to slow speed, and it's not a good idea to artificially lengthen your stride, that can lead to injury. Those podcasts are good, but they're not for everyone, it sounds as if you have quite high cadence already. I, on the other hand, have a very low natural cadence so I find these podcasts push me.
