It’s been ages since I posted but I have continued to run, take care of my calf , focus on strength, stretch and some light weight training and keep the pressure off by not setting any goals .
The calf settled well which was a relief so I then just focused on enjoying whatever run I did, no agenda , I would change my mind mid run as to which route I’d take or how long I’d run for and just go with the flow.
Seems to have worked for me and I’m much less demanding of myself 🤷🏼♀️😄
My only thoughts were to hover around 3-5K for all my runs and to really, really get to grips with slowing to an easy pace.
Mostly I’ve achieved this and today I ran my slowest 5K yet which I’m fairly chuffed about . I do still have a hard time reconciling wanting to slow down with slow times though 😬😂
I seem able to keep it easy for 3K now but find I naturally speed up for the last two .
I’m fairly good at negative splits but on my last two 5K’s I could see I was pulling back here and there which was good for the purposes of trying to reign myself in.
This sounds like I’m speedy Gonzales ( which I am definitely not 😂) but I am too fast for my own body and if I am to progress injury free beyond the 8 K I got to pre calf strain then I have more pace training to do.
Which I will now start to do next week with a little training plan for some easy/tempo & hill sprint work .
I was about to do this just before my injury and I had identified the hill in the photo as a good one 👌🏃🏻♀️😂
I have put any plan to increase distance weekly to get on plan for 10K again to the back of my mind but I think I’ll just see where my 8 week training plan takes me.
In saying that I continued on to do 6K today because my last KM was quite strong ( hopefully due to all that work I’ve been doing on my Glutes and legs 💪🏋️♀️😂) .
Which leads me to the Garmin question 🤔 To get my 5K stats I just stopped my watched and saved it , then quickly restarted for the last KM. Is there a better way to do this ? What should I press to get a record of the 5K but carry on with the one run ?
I’ve had a real lack of purpose/motivation recently but have kept at it and as Spring has arrived the mornings and evenings have been lovely to run in.
Sometimes you just need to let go and see where the road takes you 🙂
Photo is my hill 😬😂 and instead of the sea for a change , the colour I see coming to life as I run or walk the dog in the village 🏃🏻♀️🐕🦺🏃🏻♀️
