Youngest grandson got a Garmin fir his birthday recently so joined us on our not parkrun 5k this morning,

Up hill down hill and being chased by Zombies, rock to run to playlist on and it was flipping lovely

Willow wore his new shorts and running belt presents from son, first time out in shorts this year

A great running pic. You definitely need trail shoes if that’s where you run Sola.

I know we do and some of it’s through woods too, Willow took a tumble but was soon up and off again with not too much damage

Got some coming Monday, most our runs will still be on track and road but i have been wondering if trail shoes would be worth it but as we seem to get up there about once a week seems worth the expense and we haven’t bought anything for a while

Road shoes are designed for roads and will be ruined running on trails , also trails are safer on grass and on mud. So it does make sense.

Do post a pic when they arrive, and just try a short run first to check them out. If you normally wear support shoes you may need insoles too but you can buy them at a running shop soon.

I wouldn't usually consider that sort of smooth, dry grass track as needing trail shoes.

It's actually the sort of surface I'd like to try running barefoot on!

Good run for you today being chased by Zombies and Willow running in shorts for the first time this year, nice photo, the weather forecast for some parts of eastern and southern England for Monday and Tuesday is for fine warm sunny conditions 23C/73F but later in the week only 8C/46F. and possibly very cold by Easter Monday.

I’m off work from Tuesday and planning lots of running and walking for a week the weather looks pretty good

Great picture and lovely weather especially shorts. Too cold here today . We’re not getting the warm temperatures your getting. Think ours about 15 better than 7 degrees today. Glad you enjoyed your run with your grandson and Willow😀

We got our Christmas presents from some of Willows children and those were something he got, they are great, underneath like short leggings and over the top like regular shorts very comfy, it was a bit chilly but soon warm enough to take my jacket off and get a bit of sun in my arms

I remember a beach photo of yours last year when you ran...and here it was chilly? Just fabulous xxx

SueAppleRun profile image

It’s chillier on the top of the Downs but we soon warmed up

What a lovely looking place for a run Sola and how nice for you to have your grandson for company! I never thought I’d have any need for trail shoes but I have to say I’m so glad I bought them! My advice - if you can, treat yourselves!

How wonderful to be able to run your 5k with your grandson 😊. I'm very jealous of weather nice enough for shorts 😀 A really bitter wind up here today.

You still got those zombies chasing you 😂, it was lovely out there today, I managed a cheeky 5k at 7:45am myself, zombie free this time, but the next one might not be.... I’m due another zombie run, I’ve heard the camp are running low on sports bras 🧟‍♂️ 👀

I kept meaning to look at Zombie Run, but haven’t managed it yet!

It’s a bit of fun

Looks a lovely route and glorious in the sunshine. It was a little bit cool in the breeze for me today, but it was nice to just start feeling a little warmth in the sunshine. It's going to be positively tropical here for a few days next week - my shorts may get an outing too!

Oh me too! Your post has inspired me to try a few more zombie runs - just need to get some new headphones so I can hear them coming!

We managed to evade them today even with the uneven track, it always makes me jump when they growl in my ear lol

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Birdlady64

He is lucky, my daughter bought one for her husband and her son showed so much interest that she got him one for his birthday, they have missed out so much this last year because they used to go out a lot to different places but of course everything he used to do has been closed, he can’t wait for gyms and pools to reopen

Birdlady64 profile image
Birdlady64Graduate10 in reply to SueAppleRun

We've all missed out on so much, one way or another, haven't we.Good luck to him,if it nurtures an interest. Hopefully he will keep at it.

Ooh I am so looking forward to a swim again 🏊

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Birdlady64

Yes, no one has had it easier or harder than anyone else, I used to swim with a friend after work a couple of times a week and miss that, going to work though has given us a sense of normality and still being with lots of people, I can’t imagine how hard it’s been for people who haven’t seen anyone, hopefully this will be the last lock down and we can all see people we miss I’m sure he will keep it up, he cycles with his dad and gyms will be open soon enough
