Infact, first one since 29th jan, so it's been a while, for alot of reasons ☹ i've been doing 5.5k's, with 2/3 day breaks in between, easing back after my hip/groin pain, which seems to be behaving at the moment 🀞

Anyway, I remembered i'd entered the virtual HU 10k next week, so thought i better see if i can still do it πŸ€” and actualy felt really good, and quite comfortable, have lost my running buddy, as my daughter has moved away, so back to listening to music, which was nice.

I read other peoples posts, full of interesting descriptions of the countryside, animals, bird noises etc, mine must be so dull, well the canal was very busy today, and had some trouble getting past some animals, various dogs, and their owners, quite alot of loud, excuse me's going on, anyway seemed to up the pace today, well fast for me, and surprised as it was pretty warm too πŸ€ͺ

Well, as always, thinking about my vrb's not able to get out at the moment, hope it wont be too long 🀞 and others going through difficult times, enjoy the rest of your sunday. ☺

Oh, and I had my first vaccine jab on thur. πŸ’‰

Teresafaith profile image
TeresafaithGraduate10 in reply to Peter44

Well, yes I've been quiet because I've been dragging myself around like a slug for two weeks!- wiped out and no energy or motivation- then I realised I have one week left to complete my 'Ring of Kerry' run- 15k left to do this week!- gotta get my backside in gear!

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Teresafaith

Think alot have been feeling like that recently, for various reasons, on 15k to get done! πŸ˜‰

Teresafaith profile image
TeresafaithGraduate10 in reply to Peter44

Well, it's a case of HAVING to get it done!- so I WILL!

I prefer the Beara Ring or the Slea Head circuit in real life.

Teresafaith profile image
TeresafaithGraduate10 in reply to nowster

Not sure what either of those things are!- just getting to the end of THIS challenge is tough at the mo!- don't know where or when I lost my mojo- but it's gone AWOL over the past two weeks- SO ANNOYING!

The Ring of Kerry is a road around one of the peninsulas on the West coast of Ireland. It's the most well known. The two peninsulas north and south of it are more interesting.

Thanks Bambi, hope things ok with you, those school kids behaving πŸ€”Yes, that last 10k back in jan, seems a long time ago now, and actualy thinking, maybe 10k is far enough, might leave the extra km's for a bit.

Bambi2020 profile image
Bambi2020Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

Hi, I’m fine thanks- still doing shorter runs as daughter has been coming with me for as she’s doing some monthly charity run thing and wanted me to go with her for some - bought a new Garmin today so looking forward to setting that up later. Kids have all settled back in nicely- then it’s half term in a weeks time so hopefully should be able to get a few longer ones in

Yes same here, finish this friday, our schools are private, and the boys school going back earlier, as had so much time of.

That’s good you’re back up to 10k with no issues. Considering you had you jab too, lots feeling yuk after it, even better. I’m still running my 5K, 3 times a week. Still like my running which is great as I’ve never liked any exercise before lol. I ran this morning then went an 8k walk straight after. I’m must have a longer running distance in me?? Just don’t feel confident doing it. Strangely, I’d feel I let myself down if I couldn’t do it. Then worry that’d put me off running. πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I over think sometimes πŸ™ˆ

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Alvor

I think any running/distance is good, as most of us on here, have not been runners for long, we've all sort of discovered it, maybe later on in life. Your 3x 5k's sounds comfortable, i know i over did things, pushing the extra km's, so maybe stick with it! 😊

Well done for your β€˜comeback’ 10K! Yes, you can still do it - and you felt good. That run will help with your confidence! I notice that it’s about the same time it takes me. The warm weather obviously brought everyone out today.

You don’t seem to be suffering from any side effects from the jab. I had mine over a month ago now, so I’m as protected as I can be before the second dose in May.

Glad to hear your hip/groin strain is behaving. πŸ€žπŸ‘

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Jools2020

Thanks Julia, was nice to do the 10k again, after so long, a bit stiff later in day, i'm very naughty and dont do enough stretches after runs, infact today, was jump in shower, then go to sainsburys 🀣 walking up and down the isles, was my warm down! πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Aww Peter that is so wonderful and great to read. Well done on running 10k again and for being so speedy!! a great warm up for you virtual HU 10k next week (yaay bling on its way to you soon!). Very glad to hear hip/groin pain is behaving at the moment.

Sorry you have lost your running buddy hopefully you and your daughter will be able to run together again soon.

lol I always think that about my posts lol running round and round the park (although not at the moment!!) Your post are never boring Peter such a joy to read that you are getting out there snd enjoying your running.

That’s great you have had your vaccine, well done you.

Take Care x

Things are looking up Peter. You should fo your HU 10k with ease. Respectable times too. It's been so long since I did my last 10k I'm thinking of doing a bit of the magic plan again.

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Lifluf

Thanks Lifluf, nice to know a 10k is still achievable, dont think i'll push on from there for now, stick with some 5k's too, so dont have to be on IC again, or certainly for so long.Hope things are ok with you?

Lifluf profile image
LiflufGraduate10 in reply to Peter44

Not bad thanks Peter. I haven't run as often as I would have liked over the cold wet months and have lost a bit of fitness. So, what with that and a demanding puppy, I'm going to have to work on my 10k again. Still doing one or two runs a week but no more than 5k.

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Lifluf

Yes, Pitta must take alot of your time, i'm sure you've still got that 10k in you, and your still getting those 5k's done, sounds good to me. 😊

Lifluf profile image
LiflufGraduate10 in reply to Lifluf

Thanks Peter. At least, having done it last year, I know I can but I'm going to have to build up again. Probably wait until the tracks are less slippery and just keep ticking along for now.

Birdlady64 profile image
Birdlady64Graduate10

Brilliant! You are back on track and sounds like you are really enjoying it. The hip/groin area are holding up too so all good! woo hoo!My last 10k was at the end of January as well.

Unlike you I only managed 7.5k this weekend. It felt further.

Like you I entered the HU virtual 10k. If I manage to do it, it will have to be Easter weekend as I don't feel ready right now.

Great you have had the jabπŸ‘πŸ’ͺ

Thanks, was good to try it again, after quite a while, have done mainly 5's with a few 7's, but been quiet feb/march really, seems to be alot of us like this, at the moment, maybe the spring weather will help us! 🌞

Well done on the 10K, that’s great Peter! How was the hip?

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Indielass00

Behaving at the moment, i think the rest has really helped, but i wont over do things now, will try and have 2/3 days break, between runs, as jan, i ran every other day, too much for this old body! 🀣

Indielass00 profile image
Indielass00 in reply to Peter44

I remember you running every day. I wonder if we have had the same problem with our hips. Mind you mine doesn’t hurt in my groin area. It’s been loads better though since she has worked on it and from doing stretches she told me to do daily πŸ˜€

Well done on the jab and well done on the 10k πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ‘πŸ» I also forgot about the virtual 10k next week 🀣 isn't it weird that in January 10k felt like a warm up and now it feels like a marathon?! 🀣 I struggled around a 5k yesterday, it's so strange!

Glad to see you've built back up to 10 though you may inspire me to go a bit further 🀞🏻🀞🏻

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Jericho2332

Yes, this v10k has crept up on us, thought i needed to try one, most of us seem to be doing less km's at the moment, for various reasons, hope you didnt have to much reaction to your vaccine jab.

Jericho2332 profile image
Jericho2332Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

Few hours of extreme tiredness (could have been nervous energy as I'm completely phobic of needles 🀣) very slight arm pain the next but nothing major at all.

Makeaplantom profile image

Well done Peter, niggling injuries are quite literally a pain in the **** aren't they?! I've been running well and gradually improving since last year when i went back to basics and did c25k after a series of stubborn calf injuries. Calves are fine now and just managed to get up to running 3 times a week with a long run of 4 to 6 miles. Went out to do a steady 10k yesterday and have (maybe the same) slight issue with front left side groin/hip. More light discomfort than pain but enough for me to stop and walk after 4 miles of bad running. Hoping its just overuse and a short rest will sort it! Turning to the bike this week instead but don't want to lose my momentum. As i approach 50 i feel these things are inevitable! Keep it up !

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Makeaplantom

That sounds very similar to my pain, just a dull ache to start with, which would go after first few km's, but i kept running, doing alot of 10k's too, which wasnt helping, but think i've now learnt my lesson!

Makeaplantom profile image
Makeaplantom in reply to Peter44

Mine is more fine to begin with and worse as distance increases! I think i'm getting better at taking breaks and recovering properly though. Always tend to overreact like 'i'll never be able to run again!' : ) Happy running!
