I went out again this morning on my new route around Regents Park thinking I might run 10K or even 15K. I got to 5K again and felt like I’d had enough. I wasn’t particularly fatigued or feeling out of sorts but I just felt 5K was enough again for today.
I know I can run 13K as I did so a few weeks ago, but it seems there is some kind of mental block at the moment about running beyond 5K. I felt if I’d pushed myself to run further than 5K I may then have been able to run beyond 10K - but today didn’t feel like the day to try. I like the new route around Regents Park. It feels more conducive to distance running and I already know that my first half marathon will be run around the park - which will be 4 circuits.
For now I’m happy to get used to the new route and on Thursday I’ll step it up beyond 5K. It was my first run not listening to music. I listened to Talking Sopranos podcast which kept me entertained on the run.
