Well, so far so good, pain in groin definately feels less 🤞 on each run now, i think spreading out time between runs is helping, still quite slow, did about 60 mins today, fitness seems ok, stretched it today to 7k, quite comfortable, obviously big week coming up, not looking forward to thur, might fit in a run on wed evening, has been good to be back at work, focus on other things, vaccine booked for 18th march.

Enjoy the rest of weekend, if running, or resting. 🌞

Glad you’re going from strength to strength. I def think having 2 days between runs helps me.

Good that you seem to be getting over your hip/groin issue. 60 minutes is a nice run! It wasn’t long ago that 60 minutes of running seemed like an impossible target 😊 Might be an idea to run Wednesday if you can. Anything that helps.

I know, blimey, still remember my first 60 min run 🥵, was even thinking about a run thur morning, will see how things go, I might try a 10k next weekend, probably sunday, as helping my daughter move on sat.

Glad you had a comfortable run. I think slow is the right thing to do to avoid anymore injury. I’m definitely doing snail pace. Would rather do that than be on the injury couch again. Finished my last deep tissue massages yesterday. I’m brand new 😂and that’s how I want to keep it.

I can empathise with how you are feeling as it was a year yesterday since my mams. I’m sure you will have everyone’s support here on this forum.

Take care and try to do that run on Wednesday x

Thank you Dups, i'm actualy quite good at doing slow, as it's my normal pace for now, sorry to here about your mum, it's sad, but part of life I guess, must have felt strange for you then, with the first lockdown, so soon after 😥

Glad to hear your all repaired now, running is such a help with all this madness going on.

Sounds like your body is recovering and you’re getting some longer runs in- I’ve done 5’s again this week so will have to put the effort in for a bit longer on some next week!

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Bambi2020

I think doing 5k's is probably good for us, giving the joints a break, schools back then next week, although easter not far away.

Glad you are recovering well Peter and great that you did 7K run! Sounds like more rest days are doing the trick 👍🏻

Thanks Indielass, hope your break from running is not too frustrating, how is it now?

Indielass00 profile image

It’s the worse physical injury wise from running I’ve ever had to be honest!

Hip hurts just going on walks, not the whole time though. But not good.

However I’m keeping positive thoughts going and I just think I’m going to be on IC a lot longer now. That’s what I need and have no choice as I wouldn’t be able to run even if I wanted to. Thanks for asking Peter, really appreciate that🙂

You'll be back, like you said in a previous post, having signed up for this running thing, we've got to expect some injuries along the way, blimey, i'm 57, surprised i got this far, without any major injuries, you've discovered running, while still young, wish i had done, life just got in the way, keep your posts going, we'll try and help! 🤞☺

Glad you are getting over the groin issues and a nice run there Peter. You are definitely on the up with the running.

I hope next week goes ok - a run might help to clear the head. Do whatever you need that helps.

Thank you BL, yes, feeling much better now, will still take things easy, dont want to un-do everything, it's mad how much we miss running when sat on IC.

Well done Peter 👍only just found your post, 7k is great with all that you’ve got going on at the moment. I know how much grief saps your energy.

Try not to worry I’m sure everything will go fine for you on Thursday and you’ll give your mum the funeral she deserves.

Thanks, i know thur will be hard, but something we have to get through, will feel better once it's out of the way. 😥

You definitely will feel better, the lead up to it is tough as it’s all that’s on your mind and you just want it to go off well. When it’s over it feels like a weights been lifted.

I used some of the sleep meditation videos on YouTube as my mind just wouldn’t shut off, and they helped. They might help you if your struggling to drop off to sleep.

Thanks, but surprisingly, i've been sleeping ok, even with lot's going on in my head!

Thanks Teresa so far it feels ok, trying to resist temptation to run further, even though I stretched it a bit yesterday. 🤞

Yes it's just SOOOO tempting to keep running too often, and it's hard holding back- don't overdo it, I'll be thinking of you on Thursday.

Very best wishes for the week ahead. It is good that you are able to get out and run again, and hope that it can help you. Small runs are still runs, and often key in training plans, so just popping out for a very short, very slow jog will all go to build up your strength and help keep injuries at bay. Or maybe try some jeffing?

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to GailXrunning

Thanks Gail, yesterdays run had a few walk intervals, as my daughter was struggling with stitch pain, has been for a while now, she's moving out next weekend, so i'll be running solo again.

Just popping on to say I am so pleased you are making a gentle comeback and the hip and groin are behaving themselves. Long may that continue and you get out for some short runs to keep your hand in the game. You have an emotional week ahead of you. I'll be thinking of you on Thurs as you say goodbye to your Mum. Having said goodbye to my Dad in April last year, I can say the funeral will go so quickly, try to be present in your mind of the day and what is happening. Deep breathing helped me so much. It is a stressful situation but so important to honour your Mum which I am sure you will do well.

Thank you for your kind words, i know what you mean about trying to remember the day 😥 didnt know you'd lost your dad, last year, at least we're aloud 20 people, which i guess wasnt the case last year.

So far so good with the running 🤞 hope you'll be back soon.
