Covid jabbed and struggling this week πŸ˜• . . .

About 5 months ago I set myself a target of running a minimum of 20k a week, its gone quite well and while I don't always manage to exceed 20k I have got the 20k done every week. I do think this week though I'm going to struggle to make it. I had my first Covid jab on Tuesday, I can't say I've had any terrible side effects but for the last few days I have noticed a definite lack of energy for running. I have about 9k to do and with only Saturday left I think I'm going to have to admit defeat this week unless I wake up in the morning very energised, unlikely. 😁 Ahhh well better to be jabbed and miss a run I guess 😁 . . . Have a good running weekend everybody πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ™‚

Hi, I was just about to post on this subject when I saw your post. I had my jab on Wednesday, felt odd yesterday, tried a short run this morning and ended up walking! I haven’t walked since C25k 4 years ago. Obviously this vaccine is affecting some and not others, my husband had no problems.

Hope you’re soon back to normal ... as you say β€˜better to be jabbed’.

I did 5k this morning which was really hard work, I had planned for much farther but in the end got to 5 and called it a day, not an enjoyable run at all 😬

Just see how you feel o.g. I felt washed out for a couple of days after the jab but soon got back into things, but I’ve heard of so many differing reactions.

Let us know how you get along.

20km a week is good going.

Yes, I think 'washed out' is a very good description which you perhaps wouldn't notice quite so much until you try to do something like running . . . we'll see how things are tomorrow πŸ€žπŸ™‚

I had my first jab on Tuesday I decided to run in the afternoon thinking any side effects wouldn't kick in straight away. Wednesday I was shattered all day, had breakfast then snoozed the rest of the morning 😴. Felt almost back to normal yesterday, but still quite tired in the afternoon. Interestingly I noticed that my resting heart rate was much higher on Wednesday but back to normal by Thursday.

I'm sure you'll get back to your 20k weeks soon.

Yes, hopefully . . . at least the slightly achy arm has improved today πŸ‘πŸ™‚

I had my first jab before Christmas (frontline nhs worker) and the only side affect was a dead arm.

Well I had my second jab 2 days ago, they say if you going to get side effects it’s normally after the 2nd jab. I felt fine, yesterday I set out to run a 10K but after the first km I had a bounding headache like a tight band around my head, I’d been fine when I set off and was well hydrated. I decided to carry on but diverted home on a 5K route. When I mentioned to my other half he reminded me about the vaccine πŸ™ˆ. I felt achey and the headache persisted. Easing today. Will try for 10K again tomorrow all being well

Yes it certainly has an effect particularly doing physical activity like running, fingers crossed for tomorrow, maybe I can squeeze a few extra k in then 😁 . . . hope you 10k goes ok also πŸ€žπŸ™‚

I had my vaccination last Thursday and the nurse said to me take it easy over the next 24hours which I did and decided not to run on the Friday which is normally my long run. Glad I did as my arm was quite heavy that’s all, after 24 hours no problem and I’m back to my normal running this week - hope this helps anyone else in their decision making.

Happy running πŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Yes, maybe I should have rested, my partner did give me a bit of a hard time about going out for a run so soon 😬

I think we just have to give our bodies a bit of a chance on these occasions - strange times, rest up after the 2nd one - that’s my plan take care
