Hiya,
Maybe you know, maybe you don't, but I don't run my runs full time. I Jeff my runs, which means I run - walk - run. My ratio is 4:30 running + 0:30 walking, which works for me. It is not according to the rules (neither the Jeffing rules nor the continuous run rules), but it works for me and it keeps me running and that is what is important.
I read here today about fartleks and I knew what they were, but I never tried it. Wasn't even sure it could be combined with Jeffing. Well, apparently it can!
I walked to my start spot for 5 min, then ran 10 min (Jeffing) and then in the next 10 min (Jeffing) I did several fartleks, after which I ended with another 10 min (Jeffing) and 5 min walking back home. And I loved it!. It brings a bit of variation in the run, certainly because I always run the same route.
I am now running 30 mins on weekdays (2 or 3 times) and a long run in the weekend which I am gradually lengthening to 60 mins. My plan now is to do 1 fartlek run like today each week. So nice to have a plan π.
I was a tad underdressed though. Not for running, for running I was fine. My brand new running tights (long black ones from Nike with golden lines on them) and a long sleeved cotton shirt. But when going back home I was sweaty and had to walk in the shadow in chilly wind. Not good for the body, I have to think about this better.
Well, very happy with my run. On to Sunday for a 50 mins run π±.
Cheers, Evy
