8k and a question.

Completed 4k, 5k and 8k this week. There has been a few knee niggles along the way. Hence my question - if you do a Jeffing 9:1 run walk ratio can I still claim the 10k badge (just thinking ahead 🤣). This seems to help with the knee issues and seems to make no difference to the time. Hoping all you much more experienced runners will know. If that's not possible will just plod on till I eventually get there. TIA.

June.

I’ve just asked something along these very lines on the graduation badge string (a few minutes ago)! My experience with times was similar.

Hope we get some info on that.

🤞 I can see that it raises an issue potentially. There has to be a distinction drawn at some point, but where? On the other side, the gains from jeffing - of injury-prevention or -management - are too important to ignore. I found myself jeffing as a result of pursuing another thing (breathing practice), but I have been really won over to its benefits.

Wow, huge congratulations, hope that's a good omen for 10k.

I think so. And for yours too. Badges all the way!!!

I would think it would only be fair for you to get a badge. Lots of people do walk/run for various events including marathons and they get a medal 😀🚶🏽🏃🏽🏅👍

Thankyou, let's hope so.

Well done on the 8k.Maybe one of the admins I would say that Jeffing is absolutely fine and there's no reason why you shouldn't get your 10k badge in doing so. And if it helps with the knees then even more reason to do so.

I've done it on a few runs - and I've found it can actually improve my times! 😁

Thanks for that. I just can’t see that it’s right and just thought I’d ask anyway. I will eventually get there without walking but will undoubtedly just take longer. Need to get back to my open water swimming now the ice has gone away and hopefully that will help the old knees. 👍

Glad to see this topic and the answers, I am a Jeffer too, but on a ratio which most Jeffers would dislike. I do 4:30 running and 0:30 walking. It helps me with keeping the breathing calm and keeping the legs fresh enough to keep going. Personally I don't see a problem with it, walking is a very slow form of running, right? 😂

Yea, completely agree. I think with me doing 9 running and 1 walking it amounts to the same as yourself. Hope some of the admins pick it up and answer. Long term plan is to go back to full running when the knees repair. 👍
