Mymojo has got her slippers on and put her feet up on the sofa.... 🥿 🛋

😱 Oh dear. I fear I am on a slippery slope and need to catch myself before I slide off completely. I am in the exercise-doldrums and this month’s quest goals have gone out the window - it is two weeks (hmmm, approaching three) since my last run and I haven’t done any yoga since finishing Adriene’s Breath at the end of January. (Sounds like a confessional).

I can’t really say why things have slipped so badly, but they have. My only saving grace is my weekly Pilates and the long dog walks that I do each day - the only distance that I can add to my LEJOG at the moment.

Mymojo, as my motivation is affectionately known, is still in there somewhere as I wouldn’t be feeling the need to write this post otherwise. I have quietly browsed this forum, but been mainly a lurker. This past fortnight I have definitely spent too much time knitting on the sofa and binge-watching box sets under the guise of doing the ironing, which Mymojo has guiltily quite enjoyed. The recent freezing temperatures and now the constant rain haven’t helped much either. It’s been a busy time juggling work, family, volunteering...., but so it is for many and that shouldn’t factor as an excuse.

Well, it is half-term this week and the pressures of work and encouraging two teenagers to keep going with their home-schooling have eased, so....

I made a promise to Timotea , back at the start of February, that I would run 5k with her at the end of this month. This was an idea taken from Mummycav who encouraged me with this throughout January and it really helped me along then. I am going to use it to spur me on now.

If there’s anybody else out there whose motivation is also a little haywire at the moment, perhaps you could lace up your trainers (and waterproofs) and head out with me today? I’m not sure what I’ll manage, I’ll just take it as it comes, but I will succeed in getting Mymojo off the sofa.

Count me in! - I missed to few runs due to snow and ice making it dangerous underfoot. Now lacking motivation to get out there. Over 2 weeks since my last one so I’m going to get out today with you! Cheers!

Mine is wavering too, I can’t join you today because I’m on a late shift due to people using up their leave at work and still recovering from Sunday’s migraine but am with you in spirit and cheering you on virtually Enjoy what you do today and let us know how good you feel afterwards

I did it! Decided to try a new route up (very definitely up!) through the forest and the track was very, very muddy, badly rutted from logging trucks, and littered with branches.

Well, it might be crazy, but at around 5-6k when I was struggling, I found myself thinking "I can't give up, I promised Hidden I'd do this!" So I kept on plodging, and eventually emerged onto the road where I'd hoped I would, to the great surprise of a group of loggers who were taking their break!

So thank you. Now could you get me back to yoga as well please? I've only done the first four days of Breath 🤭

Fantastic Cmoi! What a great run - sounds like my sort of a trail. I stuck to the roads and a country track this morning and only covered less than half your distance, but I got out there and that’s what matters. I’m so glad you enjoyed your run. As for the Breath yoga, stick with it as it becomes such a lovely flow as the days go on. Mymojo is now turning her attention to Adriene’s February calendar, so she’s clearly feeling better. Might take a look later today as I’m bound to need more stretching after this morning. 🧘🏼‍♀️. Thanks for your encouragement today x

I will not be able to run with you today 😔 as I‘m on a 2nd recovery day today (watching my knee niggles), but will run with you in spirit.

But I know exactly how you feel. Winter is a dangerous time for us runners. I posted something similarly on a different forum where I said I could see how the icy season disrupted my pattern of practice. For me, after running for 9 months, the icy weather in December and January suddenly gave me my first ever multiple week breaks, and it played with my mind. One of my fears was that my running had been just a phase and not running was the norm. (In comes the importance of having positive reinforcement via peer groups 😃🥰)

So you’re not alone, and knowing the Delly-dot of these forums, there is no way it will stop her.... it’s just a question of when. So have fun today when you reconnect with MyMoJo and once you’re out there I’m sure it will feel like this: 🤸🤸🏼‍♀️🤸🏻‍♂️🤸🤸🏼‍♀️

Mymojo has vanished to Nevernever land. I am still doing pilates and your post has spurred me to do some yoga this morning. Is it the end of the month already? I am definitely up for that 5k ...my last one was two weeks ago. The endless rain, the constant cold are not great motivators are they? But if it lets up at all today I will be out there. Thank you for posting DD....have not even filled in my Lejog it’s that bad..look forward to our run on 28th?

Guilty too. I used to run every other day but in early December towards the end of a run I decided I’d wash my kit and put it away. For over 2 years it had hung on the outside of the wardrobe! No reason, no incident just stopped. I’m sure it’s just a pause - I’m still walking - but feel bad not taking advantage of all this free time. I’ve no oomph for anything and can’t wait for some return to days/weeks where there’s some structure.

I think we sometimes need a break (I like your “pause” better though) and you will know when you’re ready to rummage in the wardrobe for your gear again Sybilw. We will all be here when you do and in the time in between, as you are for us. Keep posting 🤗

You do sound like you have a lot going on. You know you really want to run though and the weather isn’t ever quite so bad when you are out there, I hope you can find the time and motivation for even a short happy run this week.🤗

A lot of MoJo's are huddling behind sofas at the moment, I think. They are cackling away at the ice and snow and us sitting there with our rear ends firmly glued and gradually spreading with the inactivity. Well done you for extracting and launching!!!!!
