Morning runners! Unscheduled check in ahoy!

Way to happy with these numbers to wait until Friday to post it 🤣 went out with the rough idea of a 10km today, did my warm up walk and some stretches at the start line, the weather was horrible and I really didn't want to be out there and something in my head said "Fast 5k tempo run!" It was decided!

Set off quick, no warming into the run, over the bridge and along the path in 5.19 for first KM. Excellent I thought, next KM I know has a bit of an up slope so just tried to stay strong, dodged the dog walkers which pushed me briefly onto the soggy slippy mud, small cute dog tried to play with me and nearly took me down 🤣, I just cheerfully gave a "good morning" to it two humans, got back on the path and ran on second km a little slower 5.27. could I still do it? Pesky cute dog! 🤣

Third KM went smooth, even took the opportunity to cross a normally busy road to get me on the correct side without any problems, things going my way! Time of 5.11 for KM 3, got to push it though!

KM 4 is one long straight road, 1 road to cross at about half way... No cars coming out of drives gold me up, not a car in sight when I cross the middle road...this is pretty amazing! I keep my head up and my eyes fixed at the end of the road where I know my time will come chirping into my ears, this feels quick but is it? 4.52 for KM 4 💪🏻😁 quickest I've gone in a while.

One to go, can I maintain this pace for 1 more KM and finally get close to that pesky 5km record of mine ? No straight roads and paths for this one, a large loop around the top of out neighbouring estate, through a narrow alley (no people coming the other way thankfully!) And then right down the black path past the back of my childhood home, I can't believe they havnt painted the fence since my family moved out almost 15 years ago 🤣, yeah my mind drifted briefly 🤣 snapped back to the run and knew the 5k must be close I pressed on until I heard the voice come through my ear buds....final km in 5.16!

Giving me a new 5km record of 26.04 😁😁

1km walk home and some stretches to cool down. Absolutely buzzing with that run and couldn't wait to get on here to share 😁 I hope everyone running today gets a feeling like this 👍🏻😁

Go, go, Jericho! That cutesy dog did you a big favour, spurring you on and giving you that perfect break in the traffic. It was meant to be. 😁😉

And you definitely need to share this achievement without any delay. Congratulations on your new PBs. You must be thrilled to bits.

Love the way, in an instance, you re-strategised today’s run.

Thank you! Yes today just felt right to have a good go, part of the reason I don't like to have solid plans before I set off.

I also imagine had it not been for the sweet little dog you’d be in the 25 minute zone!

Thank you, this is true but I may also have hit traffic when crossing roads if not for the dog delay 🤣🤔👍🏻

Woah!!! How did I miss this 😳😳 Amazing run! Those splits are so impressive! What a run, loved the report.. haha.. things were certainly on your side what with the lighter traffic and no cars emerging out of drives 👍🏻 A runner’s dream! Seriously well done matey, you must’ve been buzzing yesterday. You are right up there with the gazelles and smashing all your records weekly 🥵 What next? Also, hope that pesky calf is doing ok? Didn’t sound like it hindered you in any way at all!

Thank you ! Yeah everything just went right yesterday, felt great! Calf been iffy for a while but is now not bothering me while I'm exercising so pleased with that.

Just short runs and walks for me for rest of this month just to build up the strength and speed and not risk injuring anything further, il keep it between 5 and 10km.
