good diets for running

Hi I have taken up running, despite me running between 5-7k each time I run I'm not loosing weight and believe me I need to lose about 4 stone. Anyone recommends any good meal plans, we eat reasonably well i.e. fresh foods not processed. I struggle with breakfasts as I am intolerant to a lot of things and I'm often out of the door quickly. my nutritionalist has said I am suffering with inflammation and the weight can be a response to that. looking for ideas.

Sorry to hear you are struggling to loose weight. Breakfast is crucial, make time for it. A 7k run for me is only 350 calories, that’s not a lot so maybe you are thinking you are burning more than you actually are. Try for high quality high volume foods so you feel full on fewer calories. Good luck and happy running 🤗

I would suggest to use an app like MyFitnessPal or so in which you weigh your food and get the kcal you use. I can tell you, it is rather disconcerting to see how much calories you actually eat. You can enter into the app also how much you wish to lose, how fast, etc. and it suggests an amount of calories for you to eat every day in order to reach your goal.

I also like MyFitnessPal because it gives a breakdown of carb, fat and protein for each item too so you can keep those balanced as well as keeping the calories down. In the notes section you can also use it as a journal. And there is a water section too.

Hi Suzy, there is an app which a friend of mine uses where you put in what exercise you're going to to /have done (?) and it tells you how many calories you can eat that day. She says it's the only way she can lose weight and she does a lot of exercise. I'll try & find out what it's called for you!

I have done slimming world. Lost 6 stone. Started running with 2 1/2 stone off. Fluctuated for a couple of years and then last lockdown I lost the last bit and I’m at target. Beyond target actually. I love it as you can always eat something if you’re hungry. For the last stone I did 2-3 SP days a week. I eat massive meals with loads of protein and veg. I have fruit and fat free natural yoghurt with sweetener after tea. I only diet 6 days and have a day off on Sundays.

Yes I've done slimming world before I suffer with intolerances and IBS so need to eat a low FODMAP diet. slimming world doesn't lend itself well to low fodmap, but I'm willing to give it another shot.
