Overtaken by a dog dragged compatriot!

Well I never! Here I am in Wales having delivered G’ma back from our bubble for her Covid jab. She is delighted. Having packed my running gear ‘just in case’, off I set this morning on week 6 of Ju Ju’s Magical Plan. Off I went alongside Chepstow Race Course in the rain loving every moment of it all. I was pleased my Ron Hill luminous running top was fully waterproof as sold! Half way along the home straight, I heard ‘excuse me please’, whereupon a young very well mannered young lad on his bike passed me on his trike, accompanied by his dad. Shortly afterwards, I heard fast coming footsteps behind me, ‘cor I thought it has to be Mo Farah. Then, a fast running young lady whizzed by, and attached to her and pulling her along was a large dog. To be honest, I’m not sure she was fully in control! Got me thinking about what I’d need to propel this big old lump forward at the same pace......I’ve decided perhaps a large elephant! It made me laugh at myself all the way back to the end of the 30 minutes and I was pleased that once again I’d managed to defy my own health inflicted odds. On the walk home, I passed to ladies about to set off on their 25k run. I shouldn’t have listened and I wanted to give a round of applause. Then a bit nearer home it dawned on me perhaps for the first time really, that we runners are a wonderful fraternity, full of all abilities, shapes, ages, and sizes, but all united together in making ourselves better. That sounds an amusing run. You are right, there’s a camaraderie between runners, and an acknowledgement that you are doing something great that no one else understands.

Agreed! It’s just lovely us against ourselves but with the support of everyone fighting the same corner!
