Has anyone. Done C25k with a child?

Our 5 year old, who’s ‘the fastest runner in his class’ (according to him) has been asking me to take him running.

Been wondering if I can do the couch to 5k program with him if I can get the pace right, probably a fast walk pace for me.

Has anyone tried this with their child and is it actually safe for one so young?

No idea, but I'd be interested in knowing how it goes .....

I'd guess the first problem might be getting him to run at less than his max speed. Week 1 he'll probably be able to do all 8 (?) 1 minute runs flat out and be hard to tie down to a walk in between, but he'll need to be able to rein it in as the runs get longer ....... ah, reins, have you got a set?

We had his first run this dinnertime, yes he went too fast, but I kept him talking and holding his hand to judge his speed and get him to a comfortable pace. I only slipped up once, programmed the intervals into my garmin watch and missed one of the transitions so one of the run intervals was 2 minutes instead of one, no wonder he seemed a bit puffed 😂

Must have gone ok as he wants to carry on.
