Good morning from a beautifully crisp, sunny morning in London.I am enjoying reading everyones posts, the good the bad and the ugly(did You all hum the theme tune?🙊)
These past couple of weeks I have been trying to reclaim my pre christmas fitness/distance 15k but I am really struggling!😭
I have taken it slowly, 3k then couple days rest 4k, but I still am finding it difficult to even get to 5k without stopping, very frustrating😡. So I've decided to focus on returning to 5k as my goal for now. I shall continue to be encouraged and inspired by all your posts and with patience will achieve those longer distances👍👍
Happy safe running to all🏃🏃😁

I don't know how you stand on it, but maybe you can look into run -walk - run also known as Jeffing? I graduated from C25K 2 to 3 weeks ago, but have not yet reached 5K. But I am going to Jeff my runs during the week, as my body is always utterly tired after a full day of work and when Jeffing it, I can run my 30 mins as good as without problems. I know some people stand negative to it, thinking you have to run the whole time. But honestly, I read so much good about it (you get faster, can go longer, are less tired, etc.).
Thanks, I have considered this and am not averse to it, I think I am just disappointed that I had achieved longer distances, and atm I cant. What I hadnt taken into account is that as I havnt worked for a month due to illness and annual leave, I have probably lost my day to day fitness.(I work for a supermarket and usually stand and walk throughout my shift)I will probably do as you suggest, makes perfect sense.
I know how you feel. I think it's been really hard over the last month or so, what with the weather, the lockdown, disappointing Christmas to feel like you're up and at em. But I think with the spring approaching, more daylight and hopefully better weather you'll get there! Good luck 😃
I sympathise, as I had an enforced two-week break at the start of the year due to snow and ice. I'm now getting out when work and weather permit, but not yet running as far. However, I know that building back up gradually is the best way to go, so I'm trying not to beat myself up for not doing more, faster, sooner!
I'm on the same path. Just need to be a bit kinder to ourselves, ignore the doubts and start to enjoy 5K again. We've done it once and we'll do it again :-). I found using the NRC guided run this morning really helped get me back on track - they might be my +1 for a while
Sorry you're struggling with distance recently, there's a lot going on with lockdown and weather. Try slowing right down, choosing a new route and setting no targets. Happy running 🤗
