It has to dry up soon surely? Went for a welly-clad squish, squash, squelch in the woods at lunchtime along part of my local parkrun and the route I used during C25K. #
Methinks it will be a while before I run there again - even in my trail shoes

Same here in Yorkshire. The track I ran on is so muddy and flooded I had to wear my wellies for the dog walk today. There's an Amber weather warning for rain so it won't get any better here ☹️We need a lot of dry Windy weather for about a month I reckon.
Good luck with alternative routes x
O dear back to tarmac 😡. Know how you feel. One of my fave runs has a really flooded bit at the end (thankfully), but always manage to get back with muddy, well soaked feet. ⛈👣I am now an expert trainer stuffer🤣
That's the same as me Birdlady64, for months on end I have not been able to run through the woods part of my 5K run, it's been flooded now since last October, I did manage a slippy walk on that part the day I took that photograph of the swans and ducks a few weeks ago, even then, walking slowly I almost fell, certainly would have if I had been running, now the ice has melted, the flooding is back just like in your photographs, I don't fancy running a 5K in welly boots so I'll avoid that part until the water has gone.
That’s really very wet and squidgy definitely not a place to run I’m sure the earth is grateful for the moisture and I’m sure it’ll dry up eventually
It’s wet and soggy here too
Wet and squidgy is bit of an understatement. It's been under standing water in parts for weeks now and the mud is biblical. There's moisture and then there is moisture. I worry about all of the spring bulbs such as wood anemones and bluebells rotting which would be terrible.
A trip down memory lane but I think you’d struggle running through there at the moment, it looks well slippery. I took Harvey for a walk this afternoon and coincidentally we walked my old C25k route, it didn’t seem half as long as it felt back then. 🐕🦺🚶♂️
I struggle even walking there in welly boots at the moment to be honest. Its funny isn't it when you look back - running my first 5k seemed like an eternity and I remember being exhausted afterwards. Now it's something we do just to keep ticking over.
Same here too Birdlady, tracks are all too slippery, have one route left out of the village and storm Christoph is about drop a whole lot more, we’ll have to switch to mud water walking soon 🤣🤗
Running on water - now there's a thought. 😂The path from the house into the woods is much worse than those photos believe it or not.
Thankfully I think we will miss the worst of Storm Christoph down here but we really need no rain at all for a couple of weeks or so.
You had better batten down the hatches
I’m hoping g we will avoid the worst of him too but like you we sooooooo need a spell of dry and even windy days to dry out a little. Maybe we’ll be lucky and have a dry bright Spring, ever hopeful, enjoy your next paddle 🤣🤗
Gosh very wet and muddy
Muddy here, too. Why is it that as soon as the trails are too muddy to run on, I fancy doing a trail run? Anyway, it’s road running for me! 😊
The roads are faster for sure, but as you know, I much prefer running in the woods and across the fields. It's been months now since I managed a run there - I used road shoes for most of the summer as it was so dry. My lovely trails shoes have only been allowed out maybe half a dozen times since I got them. 🙁And there's more rain to come tonight
It is very wet/muddy everywhere still, stuck to pavements mainly today, last little bit, along canal, wasn't great, but runable! 🤣
I've been forced into running totally on the road for around 2 months now. I really don't enjoy it, and neither do my legs - especially when I'm trying to increase my distance again.
This is similar to my walk on Saturday (see Strava for photos). I'd attach some here, but it's not been turned on for B210K yet.
It's more of the same here in North Kent, my local park regularly turns into a lake in parts! The alternative is road running which is fine, but any dormant knee niggles are resurrected after a while.I think I will use this inclement time to stretch with online yoga, and rest - it's all contributing to running fitness after all.
I remind myself that although it's an annoyance that I can't run wherever I'd prefer, my home is dry and I'm not having to deal with the devastation it brings when homes are flooded, as we are witnessing.
I look forward to kinder, drier weather, the appearance of those Spring bulbs and relief for home owners living in the flood areas.
Best wishes ☺️.
Yes - luckily here in the south east we escaped the worst of Storm Christoph today. I really do feel for all the poor people who have been flooded. My whinging about my flooded running route pales into insignificance.Fingers crossed for all those Spring bulbs 🤞
It's been bucketing down here in Manchester most of the day, and then about 8pm it started snowing!
Its the same here in Nottinghamshire.
I scope out my parkrun course on Saturday for a planned 10k. It was definitely a no go with ice and mud.
Have to say that looks like my sort of running terrain (I have been known to have shoes come off...)
