Hi All,

Anyone have any experience with the Garmin caching plans via the Garmin connect app?

I have looked at them. Some seem a little demanding. I think a few others here have tried them and given up.

I see,Going to have a crack at a 5k one with coach Jeff Galloway (is this the Jeff of "Jeffing" fame?).

I have done a dozen 30 min consolidation runs since graduation and just fancied something different or is this a step backwards.?

Yes, that's the guy.

Another possibility is you can try the Magic Plan to 10k here:

Hobbler you sound like you've mastered consolidation 👍 go bigger go further perhaps if that's your goal? 🦔

Hi, I used the HM one for some training to help with improving my HM time. The most valuable aspect for me was learning some new running techniques for training like progression runs for example.

If you are talking about the dynamic ones associated with some Garmin Watches like the 245 then you get to put in your goal, so just be realistic with yourself.

Hi Hobbler

I have used the 10k training plan and I am currently using the HM one both with coach Greg.

Enjoyed the 10k one including the insights and the flexibility to alter training days as needed.

Working for me😁

Hi ! I’ve used 10k one with Greg but I was doing it at the same time as the magic plan and the two plans didn’t coincide but I adapted myself. I’m currently halfway through a HM one with Jeff and I’m really enjoying that but I’m also adapting it as I feel like it - changing days, for example, sometimes going a bit further, I’ve even ‘walked’ a couple of the short runs recently when I over did it a bit on the ‘long’ run ! With Jeff anything goes, you can adjust the run-walk ratios to suit yourself. I like that because having achieved this far I feel I don’t have to prove anything so I’m happier ‘slowing down’ as I get ‘further’. Besides, my ankles demand it ! I say have a go but don’t have to stick to it religiously. Some of them are 4days a week which I think excessive ! Mine is 3 days and I have to admit to having postponed a few of them so many times this winter that they turned into 2 per week 🤣

I'm using the half marathon plan and can say I'm getting a lot out of it. I really like the video tutorials and tips. I also feel the pace and demand are guiding me in the right direction. I'll definitely be using them again. Gets my vote.

Oh, and the ability to pause training is a nice feature. I picked up a number of injuries (through poor technique which the Garmin videos have helped me correct), during which I paused the training. When you pick it back up it asks if you want to pick up where you left off.

Training seems dynamic so it should change to suit your needs.

Thank you all for your insights.I think I will adapt WK9 of C25K to run for 5k instead of 30 mins (currently 4mins longer) for a few weeks and see what happens.
