Not enjoying running anymore...

Finding it a real struggle... with the weather and also mentally too...

Just getting our there to begin with...

I've not applied for my 100km challenge this month with running woman club as felt unachievable and then I'd be crosser with myself... so aiming to do at least 1 full 10km which seems at the mo unachievable too 5 is a slog... how did I manage it before??

Any tips on finding my mojo again peeps??

that is fine Nicky, just keep running. i run every other day 5km which is doable and a joy actually. it keeps me in check. i dont time it either , but i know that the route im doing is 5km and im happy with that. its cold and hard but im sure it all depends on time of day. next week you may find yourself to be fully energized!

This weather is hard D-F, I’m sure you’ll soon find your mojo when it warms up a bit. 😀Don’t be hard on yourself either: that run is quicker than my 5k PB by nearly 2 minutes!

To elongate your runs try slowing down and gradually increasing your distance. You’ll get there. 🙏🏻

I'll try to slow it down ...think my mindset was all wrong today and all I could think was let just get it over with...

Sorry to hear this. At the moment even if you get out for a short walk or run it's all good. Theres a lot going on at the moment and you certainly dont need the added stress of feeling you should be doing a particular distance of run. Take care and happy running 🤗

Mojo is a strange beast D-F - I’m forever losing mine but it usually turns up again! I can’t really help with challenges etc but may I propose that for a time you don’t put pressure on yourself to do a certain amount each time you run? Just have a while where you just run for fun? Who knows where it might lead?!

It’s cold, the days are short, we always seem to run less in January then our mojo seems to be somewhere in February and we are all keen again Good luck finding your running happy place

Sorry to hear you’re feeling like this DF. You’re certainly not alone. I haven’t had a good week myself, been feeling very flat.

New Year blues, current situation, the weather, the news - there’s plenty to put you off your game right now.

Find moments to be kind to yourself and don’t beat yourself up for it. Remember that no feeling is final and keep looking ahead.

How’s about some fartleks, a naked or zombie run?

Sorry to hear you’ve lost your mojo D-F, still a very respectable 5k time though. I think everyone seems to be on a bit of a downer lately. The weather doesn’t help, it’s bitter cold 🥶 out there at the moment. Maybe you need to take a little break. Hopefully the weather will get a little milder soon and you’re enthusiasm will return 👍

Some weeks are hard!! I hope you can get back into it soon, but theres no rush :) maybe take some time doing other things for a couple of days? Or watch some running motivation documentaries!

I was also hoping for 100k this month, but "the best laid schemes" etc., etc. The problem for me is not motivation but a niggly knee. I ran on Saturday (8km) and on Monday (2km), and that was it.

Like with many things, your enthusiasm and staying power will ebb and flow over time. The best you can do is just keep things ticking over, so that when you do get your mojo back you've not lost anything. Best of luck!

This is the hardest time of the year for a lot of us. The conditions are tough and there's so much to worry about. Running is a release from all the aggro but, if you're not feeling it, take a break. Then start back refreshed with no goal other than to stretch your legs, relax your mind and enjoy your surroundings.

Don't be too hard on yourself.

The fitter you are the better prepared you are against COVID, dig deep and remember where you were before you started running.

Don't worry about times or distances, just go out and run. New routes if possible but somewhere safe and the prettier the better!

Tough with the weather being like it is but take it slow and probably run once the sun's been up a while and the nasty ice has melted.

Have a playlist made, have your gear set out the night before, earbuds/phone etc charged.

Just run until you've had enough and then stop. Try to build back up to longer runs as you get back into it.
