Happy New Year All!
Although it's not that happy, I've never known a longer first week of January in my life.
I've come to the conclusion that winter running is not my favourite, might be ok if it's dry and there are pretty snow capped lanes but that is not where I am. I've done 2 runs so far, one to test out a new pair of trail shoes and one in my old runners. I normally, as in always, wesr compression leggings, but for the past 2 runs I haven't had them. I'm slower and gravity feels immense, it's distinctly less comfortable BUT the muscle aches and twinges I usually feel in the days following a run seem to have decreased substantially. My runs feel worse in the moment and better after but I can't for the life of me figure out if it's a fluke, just me, or there's a reason for it?
I floated a theory to myself that because I was more aware of my body I was better able to avoid strains? Or maybe it's the way blood circulates back all of a sudden once you take them off? Not a clue.
