Happy first hump day of 2021 all 👋

Just a quick question for you all:

Does anyone use any pre/post running supplements and/or gels? If yes - any recommendations?

I’m looking at supplementing my training (both my running & home work outs + weight training when the gyms open again) and I’ve got my eye on slow-release Casein and I want to try gels for my HM training.

I’m mainly interested in feedback re: the gels. Do they do the trick? 🤔

Also - I have a referral scheme code to share for My Protein with interested folks. They are offering free delivery and a gift before the 10th on £35 spend!

So if anyone is looking to purchase supplements then DM me for the referral code 🤗

Happy running all 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️

I like to know what in my running food so I make my own snacks. The price of those things is immense

No substitute for real grub as part of your daily routine If you stay hydrated and nourished that’s a great base right there. Maybe pop over to the marathon community as there is loads there

Half marathon - I’m toting my own bars. I do so on marathon day too. Drink wise for marathons I take Tailwind, which is worth checking out

I don’t do gels but lots do. I find them unpalatable. Gag! 😝

I don't do supplements PhoenixRise, I do use if on a long run Sis gels just a concentrate caffeine based energy no drink needed with it👍 but I do like the odd haribo as well 🙂👍

I don't bother up to HM distance though I carry water if the weather is warm. Above that I have used gels. Lots of people don't like them but I found them ok. Easier than chewing sweets whilst running. Whatever you do, introduce it gradually. Like anything in your training it will take your body time to adjust. There's enough protein in a glass of milk for post run recovery. Protein supplements won't add any extra benefit.

My option is always a large bowl of porridge loaded with a variety of fresh fruit and yogurt, often followed by cake or chocolate but I guess that's not what you are looking for 🤣 I'm running about 120km a month and find as long as I have a healthy varieties diet things are fine. Happy running 🤗
