How are people choosing new trainers with all the running shops shut? I usually go for Mizuno Wave Riders but, with stocks low online, I’m not sure what would be a good alternative.
They’re a big investment so any suggestions?

Some stores offer a gait analysis remotely and for free on the condition you purchase their products- such as runandbecome.com/online-gai... (not sure if links work here though). There is another independent store in Edinburgh.
Buying trainers online is hard- but there are some websites out there which can help you find a close alternative to the Mizuno Wave Riders trainer, such as the Wave Sky 3 Waveknit or the Saucony Triumph ISO 5- most of it is subjective rather than factual though but given the unusual circumstances we find ourselves in, these reviews are useful. Research, research, research.
Youtube is also a goldmine on how to choose a trainer when you're limited to purchasing online.
I'm just sticking to the brand I know, i.e. Brooks. We just bought eldest kitten a new pair of Mizuno's for Christmas as that is what his old pair were. Different style but he's fitting in them ok. Most companies are offering good return policies at the moment so you should be fine.
Buy from a site with a decent returns policy, and wear your new shoes around the house for a good few days to see if there are any glaring problems before getting them dirty outside.
This website, RunRepeat, is pretty good for reviews and comparisons: runrepeat.com/catalog/runni... Their suggested deals are sometimes a bit off the mark, so beware of that 😊
