A Christmas Eve (not) Run and The Twelve Days of Christmas

I really wanted to run today, but there were too many chores. I could have run around lunchtime, but it's Christmas so I decided it would be much nicer (and maybe a little bit more romantic) if Mr B and I went for a nice stroll together in the woods.

The weather was glorious this morning, but typically it had started to cloud up a bit by the time we set off.

The mud has got to ridiculous levels over there and the route I used all throughout c25k is now under standing water.

Despite this the main paths were heaving with mostly non-socially distanced groups clearly comprising multiple households, despite us being in Tier 4. Thank goodness most of us are trying to do the right thing.

We would normally walk the minor paths, but there is a Twelve Days of Christmas Trail and I wanted to collect a full set of photos for my bingo card tick of Best Festive Picture of Things I Found on my Route. Oddly most people didn't even notice these beautifully painted wooden plaques - despite my stopping to take photographs of each one. People are strange aren't they?

We also managed to find some lovely holly with bright red berries that we brought back to decorate the dining room for Christmas dinner tomorrow.

My glazed gammon joint has finished cooking and it looks so good we can't wait for Boxing Day tea, so it's a gammon egg and chips supper for us tonight. πŸ˜‹

We will be making at least 2 video calls tomorrow to relatives we can no longer see, but I am sure we will enjoy the day.

I hope everyone has the happiest Christmas possible, wherever you are and whatever you are doing πŸŽ„πŸŽ…

Glad you enjoyed your romantic walk in the woods 😁Yes, so annoying when people ignore the rules that are there to keep us all safe , I noticed it on my run !

Oooh gammon egg and chips sounds wonderful ,

I have just had a veggie chilli before the meat feast of the next few days .

Happy Christmas πŸ˜πŸŽ…

It was nice but way too many people for my liking. Yes it will be a bit of a meat feast won't it.

I offset it with some homemade roasted courgette and red pepper soup for lunch 😁

Happy Christmas to you too

I am so happy that you enjoyed your romantic walk in the woods, like you part of my running route is under standing water, it annoys me because it's preventing me to run the full route I usually run, I would like to run another 10K or even 10 miles but that part of the route has been now flooded for months on end, you will never get me running on roads, I have had enough of roads cycling for the last 4 decades.

I like those 12 photos, they really are very seasonable, last year I used the 12 days of Christmas for anyone to run the distance stated in the song, for example on the 5th day of Christmas my true love asked me to run a 5K, which I did on the 29th December, however, she also asked me to run a 10K on the 10th day of Christmas, that's the 3rd January, I set out to do that 10K but it's the ONLY run that I have not completed since graduating from C25K that I intended to run, I struggled to get to 5K, just made it, so if you wish to run a 1K to 12K on the 12 days of Christmas you are welcome, that's a challenge to anyone on the B210K forum.

That's a challenge way too far for me, but there must be some peeps on here who would be up for that! I hate running on the roads too. It has to dry up soon surely? With it turning colder it will be horrible if all that mud and water freezes.

Enjoy your Christmas Dinner Al - it will be nice to have someone else cook for you πŸ™‚

I have always had a wonderful Christmas Dinner at my son in laws parents house on Christmas Day, my son in laws father is the only family member who has seen me run, the route I run is very close to where he lives, I sometimes see him walking his dog Poppy when I am running that off-road route and he cheers me on.

Absolutely lovely BL, great festive pic, my favourite because of all the work someone’s put into making that trail, and your Christmas Eve sounds just perfect πŸ€ΆπŸŽ„πŸ€—

Merry Christmas Birdlady64 πŸŽ…πŸŒ²It sounds like a lovely walk in the woods. Those plaques are wonderful and such a nice thing to put up this year, sad that some people don't look around when outside! I wonder who put them up?

Have a lovely day x

Merry Christmas and thanks for going back and taking photos of them all.

I remember the photo you took before and looked forward to seeing them ,

Gammon egg and chips for tea too πŸ‘ŒπŸ˜‹

Sounds like a perfect Christmas Eve .

Live Christmas Day but the eve ( if you manage to be off work that day) is my favourite ☺️

Possibly the anticipation and start of the β€˜quietening down’

Have a happy peaceful day πŸŽ„πŸŒŸπŸŽ„
