Today was my first run in 17 days and it felt so good. Only 20 mins and less than 3k but came back with a huge smile on my face.
I've not been able to get out since early December due to my son being sent home from school to isolate twice in one month, work been crazily busier than even the rest of this crazy year and the usual Christmas prep. As I only started running in August from a zero baseline, I was worried about how much fitness I would have lost. I certainly have lost some - couldn't have managed a 5k today - but I just loved getting out there again and feel confident that I will be back where I was a relatively short time.
So to all those out there who have had to miss out on runs due to isolation, illness, injury, family and work responsibilities; be kind to yourselves, take the time that you need to do what you need to do and know that the big, lovely running world is just ready waiting for you when you are ready to lace up those trainers once more 😁
Have a lovely, safe and peaceful Christmas everyone 🎄
